Just curious if anyone knows the answer to the following: If the light goes out in your Wii U GamePad while it's on the cradle that means it is fully charged; if the GamePad then proceeds to remain on the charger, is that doing anything to hurt the battery? Is it overcharging it or am I find just leaving it there until I need it.

No, Nintendo recommends you leave it on the cradle when you're not using the gamepad actually.

And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

Nothing to worry about. The Gamepad has "smart" battery management firmware built in, you'll be just fine
