Topic: Gamepad battery

I had about half battery left on the gamepad when I finished playing. It remained off (and off the charger) for 4 days and when I went to play it, the battery was completely drained. Is this common?

Do you guys keep it on the docking charger at all times when your not using?

i have to charge it 2-3 times a day its a pain in the arse sometimes.

I'm in the UK too. Wouldnt a GamePad battery be universal?

Nintendo didn't even make this battery pack. You would have to ask Nyko. I'm sure an extented battery would work, because it's really the hardware it's affecting, not anything having to do with media formats.

I dont know as nice as that is I am still mad at Nyko with the business over the Power Pad Plus for the 3DS. I will believe that the power pak for the Wii U is out when its out. Not going to get my hopes up again.

Ya, that powerpad pro was legit compared to Nintendo's version, but I have an XL so it wouldn't have mattered to me unless they released an XL version... I don't buy Nyko stuff, but circlepad pro was cool. As for Nyko altogether, they need to make actual accessories we want/need, and same goes for Nintendo.

I will agree that the gamepad's battery life is pretty lame, but when I see the low battery light, I save my progress, stop playing, and charge it. I always keep the brightness to 1 and power saving mode on, as well, and I still see the game screen just fine. and I'm not a super hardcore gamer or anything so it's not a massive issue for me

Same here. I'm on for decent increments of time, and set it on the charger and do something else for a while. A longer battery life would be nice, but I usually just plug in the charger to a wall outlet next to where I'm using it. It's not really wireless anymore, but it's good for now.

I keep mine on the charger when it's not being used. How exactly did you leave it? Like under something that could turn on the console constantly, and eventually run the battery out?

Thats the strange thing, turned everything off (had about half battery) and kept it on the other docking station. 4 days later, battery dead.

normal, 70, I'll just keep it on the cradle charging when I'm not using it. I called Nintendo and they didn't think the battery should die when not in use like that, but didn't have any specific details. just thought Id check here

if you left it on the charging cradle when there was no power running into it that will drain the battery

He means the cradle that isn't the charger. I would charge it to max, then use it like normal for a few days and see if it does it again before calling Nintendo. Or try charging it, then leaving it off in an area will nothing will affect it, than try it to confirm whether your GamePad is discharging battery power when not in use.

I agree with the OP. Mine seems to lose power if it's left off the charger and unused for a few days.
