unless this rep misspoke, that is:

"AM: ...the GameCube discs will not be compatible with Wii U, but a number of the games that were playable on GameCube can be downloaded from WiiWare."

It's interesting that they will be downloaded from "WiiWare". I find it hard to believe that Nintendo would put GameCube games on their Virtual Console service. The large ROM size of GameCube games would use up a lot of Nintendo's bandwidth.

Maybe a few of them @romulux, but it's probably no reason to get rid of your Wii. The WiiU isn't suppose to wield much more in the hard drive department than the Wii did. And what @aoeder said. lol

Not biting.

Doesn't make any difference to me I plan on keeping my Wii when the WiiU comes out and I also have a Gamecube in storage as well.

if this is true then it sounds like they won't be doing a full gamecube virtual console, the "wiiware" suggests that it'll be a few select games. i assume that nintendo will rework them for 1080p just the way they tweaked n64 games to run in 480p. not too many n64 games ended up on the vc and it'll probably end up being the case for the gamecube as well, so this isn't necessarily that big of a deal i guess.

I also plan on keeping my Wii. I just bought it in November 2010, the Mario Bros. 25th anniversary red Wii bundle. Maybe I'll keep it around as my VC library, I don't like the upscaling aspect effect on retro titles. I want them to look and feel as close to the original releases as possible. How about you @Tasuki?

Well, I think the upscaling ratio aspect sucks major monkeyballs. You can't magnify something that isn't there, anybody into videography can tell you that. The only outcome your going to receive is blurring and distortion. Do you guys really want blurring and distortion? But for some reason I can't see any visual differences in my VC titles. Is this because I run my Wii on the standard ratio setting, on a standard flat screen TV?

Go back and play the titles you own on your Wii, on their original system, and get back to me.

I understand it's been like 20 yrs. since I last played TMNT on the NES. Why if I had the ability to play them side by side, I would be able to tell the difference @KidCrono?

Yes the resolution is noticeably different.

@KidCrono So a higher resolution makes retro titles look better or worse? As I said before I want them to look as authentic as possible, mainly for nostalgic reasons.

yeah, the vc looks much better than the original systems. n64 games are way better, 2D games aren't as improved but still look better.

Because of the Wi''s Component connection and the ability for progressive scan, VC titles look superior to their original counterparts....Although the VC Nes emulations are piss poor regarding the color and brightness, which is the major glaring flaw with Nes VC games...

.It's depressing seeing what used to be bright and colorful nes games take on a uncolorful washed out darker look, it's pathetic. as to why i blast up the color all the way when playing Nes VC games, along with the contrast, and maybe the brightness a bit....it makes all the difference!. B-) Still not exactly on par based on what it SHOULD look like 'colorwise' with a component connection, but it's vastly superior compared to the supremely bogus dark uncolorful emulated crap that's been churned out by Nintendo...

Anyways, I honestly don't care for downloadable Game Cube games, there's nothing 'retro' about it. Besides I'd rather waste my cash on the actual games so I can complete my GCN Collection.

I hope so, I missed out on tons of Gamecube games.

I'd rather them concentrate more on bring out games from the older systems like NES, SNES, Genesis etc. Than bringing Gamecube games to Wiiware. Honestly Gamecubes are still easy to find as are Gamecube games. Not only that but the Wii can play GC games. Honestly do they expect people to get rid of their Wiis for the WiiU.

I'm skeptical, even though it doesn't affect me either way. I already have most of the Gamecube games I want.
