I have both the nyko internal and external Pak's and I can literally play all day without plugging in ran from 9 am to 9 pm of the charger and it wasn't dead
Notice the date. That's why alot us never cared about such complaints. We knew what we were buying, and it was all to to keep system costs down, and no one understood(or understands) that. It's the exact same case with the HDD space; to cut costs. If you want more HDD space, you'll go buy more HDD space.
Right, but it also says battery life is dependent on brightness. I'm in the middle of the 3-to-5 range with brightness at its lowest and no volume.
@BurningSpear
I know. Mine lasts somewhere in that range, as well. My point is that anyone who bought a Wii U(and knew what they were buying) on launch, already knew that almost 1 and 1/2 years ago.
EDIT: In otherwords, if 5 hours max isn't enough, then what makes you think that 3 hours will be.
@WhereEaglesDare
Yup. I have mine set at the lowest brightness, with power saving off. I could probably add another 10-20 minutes to the GamePad per charge if I have power setting on. That extra bit of brightness with the power saving setting off gets the GamePad to match my TV for the most part, so I leave it at that.
The only time I set it to brightness level 2 or 3, is when I'm playing a splitscreen gane on the GamePad(off-TV). Otherwise, as the second display, it doesn't really need to be on the highest setting for me.

It hasn't been an issue for me so far... i just keep it plugged in to the AC adapter most of the time.
That's terrible for the battery's life span.
The battery is always running, so it doesn't matter whether you have it plugged in or not. Leave your GamePad off the charger overnight and battery life you had will be gone the next day, even if you didn't use it. That's just the way it's designed.

I recently got the official battery so its lasting just abit longer than my PS4 pad now which is a big improvement. Before i was getting about 4-5 hours of play before i had to charge it. I recommend the battery since it doubles the original batteries life and is a 5sec install.
@Galanmerith
Oh. I've never left my GamePad off the charger. I was just taking other peoples' word for it, that said they left it off and it lost battery. Really though, keeping it plugged in constantly isn't really bad for the battery as far as I'm aware. Batteries have become better in the past few years. They don't over charge, either because of the battery or AC plug that regulates how much power something is getting.

@Galenmereth yes it really does, not by much but ive noticed it go from full charge to like half overnight and i know a few other people have experienced the same thing here.
