I really love football games and still play FIFA 13 regularly and hope that even if EA don't bring FIFA to Nintendo consoles soon that someone will there own effort. With this in mind what would your wish list of features be for a new football game on WiiU/NX??

For me personally I'm really keen on seeing a new fluid movement system I want to feel the ball is a truly independent item not just something tied to players feet there have been big improvements over the years but it could go further. A manager mode that really puts you in the managers seat it doesn't need to have the depth of a full on manager sim but something a lot better than what is offered in FIFA. Fully licensed players is unlikely but would be great. A better implemented stamina/sprint system and a good selection of mini games.

FIFA 13 is on Wii U, lol. it's actually very good.

pick up a PS3 if you want to play the latest FIFA games (even FIFA 16 is still coming out on PS3 because the PS4 sucks)

@Skrtel, I'm not sure you've read OP properly.

I would like to see something a bit more arcadey. I played an arcade game once (a long time ago) where you could punch the opposition and the referee, I think. Needless to say, it was fun.

As I've said in other threads, I'd be happy for Mario Strikers to get a big expansion. Larger teams, with a bigger roster of characters to choose from, and where each character had its own unique skill move and attack move.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

I think we're all woefully ignoring the amazing GOTY soccer game that is Blastball.

But of lesser games, the Strikers games (same dev, no less) were always fun. For a 'next gen' console version I would want them to take inspiration from Galaxy and MK 8 to create anti-grav fields where you can run on the ceiling and kick the ball into the orbit of various types of 'planetoids.' The base field would be something like the interior of a 3D oval (elongated sphere?) with goals at either end.

The challenge in making such a game would be to balance the fast-paced passing of Strikers with the slower gravitational physics of Galaxy. But if they could pull it off it would be the 'clutchest,' not to mention suiting Strikers' 'x-treme 3 the max' aesthetic perfectly.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

You can buy a 3DS right now, you cannot buy an NX, which the OP was about. Also, can we perhaps refrain from critiquing the logic of dumb jokes which exist for dumb jokes' sake?

I've considered FIFA 13 many times but I just can't do it,it's too old.I only got my Wii U at the end of last year so it was already 2 seasons out of date with the squads and the actual gameplay 3 years out seeing as it was a reskin of FIFA 12.This will be the first time I've not owned any football game on my console of choice and it does annoy me.Even on the 2600 I had Pele Soccer to keep me busy for hours.I'd be really happy with PES but neither of them are going to happen. An up to date PES would sell pretty well too if they took a chance. The Gamepad could have added so much too.

Get back to the arcade feel of proper footy games. And I'm not talking about silly stuff like Mario Strikers, where you shoot and the football splits in many balls and you score 9 goals at once - that's just stupid. Go back to the action of games like Sensible Soccer, Superside Kicks and the PS1/PS2/Wii Winning Eleven games.
I have FIFA13 on WiiU and it's alright for your yearly dose of football, but the more accurate these games are getting, the less fun they are to play. The overall speed of the games has decreased by at least 50%. The stamina/sprinting system is bollocks - who thought it would be fun to have a "realistic" fatigue system?! Most of the players act like they have congestive heart failure after 45 minutes. They have put so many tricks in them, they have turn them into juggling games. If you look at ANY video of best FIFA goals, you see most of them are just based on ball tricks (which kinda defies the purpose of a "football simulation" eh readers?!) . Bottom line, football games are just not as fun anymore.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

I would have bought Fifa 13 at launch if EA weren't such you-know-whats and lazily released Fifa 12 disguised as Fifa 13. I didn't want to support that kind of dishonourable business practice though ALL of their games were released gypped on Wii U. Even the highly praised Need For Speed: Most Wanted U was deprived of DLC that were made available on the other platforms. If anything, the Wii U version should have had ALL of the DLC on disc at no extra cost considering that it was released at least six months late and at full price to boot (retailing for AU$90 while the other platforms were no more than $40).

For the first time since owning a home console I was seriously considering buying a football game and EA only have themselves to blame. Even though Fifa 13 is now available for around $5-$10 in Australia, I still don't want to support the game, however good it may be. It's just a shame that other console owners are still supporting them en mass. If they eventually come around (which they won't) and release a new Fifa game that is at least as good as the other versions, then I'm in, even though I really, really do not wish to support EA.

Buy it used and there's not much support given. It's worth having.

I feel the exact same way. I was considering buying Madden '13, but the same physic problems and other issues you described were in both of the sports games. The GamePad touch controls were the big sell, but alas.
It doesn't really matter that much anymore, anyway, IMO, though, because a new FIFA will always be there, and I'm not willing to buy that sort of game every year.

I would probably buy it for $5 USD(which is still less than $5 AU), but that price doesn't exist(w/o a coupon, possibly), and EA already complained about no one buying it, even though they were gimped. I'm not really going to bother. I'd rather buy Citizens of Earth or something like that, too, so there's always that.

Just give me PES, it will be enough....

If not, just make an HD version of Mario Strikers, it will be enough too.....

FIFA isn't the sort of game I would buy annually anyway, but it would be nice to have the latest instalment maybe every 2-3 years and be on an even playing field when visiting somebody who has one of the other console versions.

Right in the first post, he says that he still plays FIFA 13 regularly.

He just wants to know what we'd want in a newer Soccer game for the platform (whether that be newer iterations of FIFA, or something else entirely).

PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

@sillygostly:
I agree, but Wii U won't be getting many 3rd party games with full effort involved, if any at all, so we might as well not even bother discussing it. If Nintendo thinks their fanbase will care about a football/soccer game, they could easily just make something like PES an exclusive and release it as a long term release, that they continuously update. That's already been common sense for years, but they'll milk yearly releases as hard as they can, like they always have. Releasing a new entry for every sports game in existence is basically the worst business practice I can think of, because not much changes except a few tweaks that could easily happen via update.

I've always had the idea that 3rd party games will come back and actually matter on Wii U, but it'd have to be an easy port job that's cheap as hell. That's what has been clear since 6th generation, because that's why GCN was still getting most of the 3rd party games. It all just depends on one thing or another.

EDIT: From my perspective, it's not worth buying a lot of these 3rd party games, even though I have an Xbox One, because they've been trying to nickel and dime people, upwards of $30+, since DLC even started being a thing.

That would be the most consumer-friendly approach to handling annual sport game releases. One option is that they could still issue annual releases, but offer the latest roster/features as separate DLC for owners of the previous game, or at the very least, offer customers a discount for buying the next instalment, particularly if there aren't any significant technical differences between the two versions. This keeps customers happy while ensuring that users are more willing to upgrade when the next release rolls around, but EA aren't exactly renowned for their scrupulousness.

It is a disagreeable business practice, sure, but from a business perspective, full-priced annual releases are more sensible (cough profitable) as there are many, upon many people who buy every single FIFA game, year in, year out (not to mention the ridiculously overpriced special editions). I don't understand it myself, as I get bored silly from playing and watching football games (though I don't mind watching the occasional match on TV) but it's a bafflingly common occurrence.

I spent a lot of time playing PES on PSone and PS2 but whit the PS3/360 gen football games lost their magic somehow.
@gcunit Are you talking about the crazy Adidas Power Soccer on PSone? Arcade mode was awesome!!!

Praise the Sun, and Mario too.
