I know it's for the Wii and this is the Wii U board but the Wii U is backwards compatible so it'll do. Still, seeing as I'm a Star Wars nut and got the most out of backwards compatibility with the Wii playing the Gamecube versions I'm disappointed this never came out:

I wish I had never seen that. (Obviously now I want it).

For some reason I can't see anything in the videos

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

At least they changed their plans from how the project was originally envisioned back when it was an Xbox game that only reached 50% completion. I'd of been sad if we had missed out on a remake of the original Rogue Squadron, but that apparently wasn't in the plans when it evolved into a Wii project.

The two GameCube originals remain attractive looking to this day. So it stings, but not quite as much as it otherwise would've.

Since it was finished, hopefully someone involved will make sure it lives on eventually.

Just rip my heart out... ;(

Seriously, this game getting cancelled blows my mind. It was done and would have been released during the peak of the Wii's popularity. That, and it was the Star Wars game everybody had been asking for since the introduction of the Wii. It would have sold millions!

I listened to the IGN podcast where this information came out. Such a sad turn of events - Factor 5 were such an amazing studio, both technically and in their creative output.

I thought the exact same thing after I watched it. There are so many great games that never see the light of day ... imagine how many there really are if we never hear about them.

That would sell millions of copies if it was properly advertised and released alongside some classic Star Wars stuff. I think I put 200 hours into the RS games and I would be willing to do so again.

Star Wars is such a safe bet, along with the Wii numbers at the time I can't buy that the financial crisis was the primary cause for this not being released. The gaming industry didn't feel the crunch as quickly as the other sectors if my memory serves me right.

^^
More like Lucasarts' own financial crysis stopped this. They had tons of games in playable forms that got cancelled - Wii had the Maul action game and Rogue Squadrons. It's unclear how many more were either planned, developed or playable, but it's over 23 if I recall correctly. If the games division was independent then we would see a lot of that stuff complete. I am actually glad that they're no longer in charge of things. If it wasn't for Lucas' money then they would bankrupt earlier and have it all managed by a third party.

Look pretty clunky to me, I think they did the right thing canning it

It's hard to judge the videos that way. The games were running at 60 frames, so a direct feed video would have to be available for us to judge that. I remember that trailers for both games looked much worse than the game itself. It surely couldn't have been worse than the originals and the speeder bike sections looked better already. I am intrigued by the remade on foot levels, because even for all the bashing that RS3 got, they didn't really made me like the game less - they just seemed like quick events that tie the rest of the game.
