Now I don't necessarily mean specifically for the Wii U--although that would be nice--but what films do you think would work well in a video game format, assuming that they were developed with care and quality?

Inception - The mind-bending potential for this as a third-person action shooter would be incredible. It would be a better idea to use the same universe/technology than follow the film though and would really allow for some wild creativity. Online multiplayer could benefit from a host of interesting modes, something like Assault from Unreal Tournament would be fantastic

The Faculty - I could see this a modern take on the point-and-click adventure but with a horror element too. Day of the Tentacle for the new century?

Rollerball - They did bring it to the NES as a pinball game, but come onnnnnn

She was like a candle in the wind... Unreliable.

Like you already pointed out, the problem with games based off of movies is that they are usually cash-ins and are not given the time in development to become good games. But if I had to choose a few that would make for good gaming, I would choose the following:

Wreck-It Ralph's Sugar Rush - I know Wreck-It Ralph had his own game and was also used in Disney Infinity, but I think it would be awesome to play a game based on the fictional game in the movie.....Sugar Rush. Mario Kart like racing on various candy/desert race tracks!

On the opposite side of the spectrum, I'll throw out the obvious: Movies based off of Nintendo franchises. A computer-animated Super Mario by either, Disney/Pixar, Illumination Entertainment, or Dreamworks Animation. It's too late now, but a Mario film would sell games, system, and merchandise.....and make a lot of money at the box office.

.....No????? I thought both of the examples you gave were garbage. I would suggest putting the story and quality of the animation in the hands of one of the studios that I listed. I idea would be to produce something with quality. I also believe I said computer animated? I did say that!

The problem with Mario as a movie is that there is no story. At that point the movie directors would have to recraft a story and universe that would be suitable for a movie, at which point you end up with Dennis Hopper with his hair gelled into ridges.

I agree, but that's why I listed 3 proven studios (their most recent movies) that I feel would be able to create and develop a story around Mario. But this is off topic for the thread so I apologize.

So you get my point, the first one was a movie that hit cinema's back in 1993 and the anime was actually 7 years earlier. Mario isn't a good subject for movies.
