Hello, uhhh I'm not on the forums much, so hello! I am feeling unsure about buying a Wii U.
I want to get the Mario Kart 8 bundle, because it has a Wii Wheel and A wii remote plus and all that jazz.
I just dont want to regret my purchase. Many reviews worry me, but I have 2 friends who have Wii Us and its an amazing expericence playing it! I want to go all out with a system this gen (like an external hard drive and such) and Nintendo has always had a space in my heart.
So, can somebody help me? I want to purchase a Wii U but I really dont want to regret my purchase and have hardly any good games to play.

Wait until E3 is over, then look at the present and future releases, and see if they interest you.

If you liked mario Kart 8 then go ahead and get the bundle. You're also getting a free game to go along with it too as long as you sign on to club nintendo with the game b4 July 31..

If you like Nintendo games than you won't regret your purchase.

If you want a console that has all the multi-plat franchises and the Wii U will be your only console you probably would.

You won't regret your purchase. Let me repeat that - You won't regret your purchase.

The Wii U will be one of nintendo's most loved consoles by the end of its life I'm going to just say. The software is too high quality for it not to be.

Dude I don't get it... You said you are already enjoying playing it, why care about the reviews then? I'll say go for it, since you can get another 1 retail game for free

PS: I skipped 2 Nintendo console generations and got the Wii U. Go figure

I-U

Mario Kart 8 is the best game on the Wii U, and it's one of those titles that really accumulates playtime so I think that game will justify owning a Wii U itself. Beyond Mario Kart 8, I can't give the Wii U too much praise for its exclusive software, simply because not much has stuck with me. That said, the Virtual Console has been decent especially with the addition of Game Boy Advance titles so there are those cheaper titles beyond Mario Kart 8 that may grab your interests.

Just get it. There's already a handful of games you could buy right away, that will have you playing for months. Like Catain_Toad says, you can get a free game if you have MK8 by the end of July.

ACK

Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, and Pikmin 3 are are some of the best exclusive, pure gaming on any recent console. Seriously, think about it. All are among the best offerings of their respective franchises all with topnotch art and music, polished game engines, spiffy level designs, and excellent multiplayer.

The next tier is no slouch, either. With Wind Waker HD, ZombiU, Lego City Undercover, and The Wonderful 101, there are certainly a worthy list of exclusives. Then there's New Super Mario/Luigi U, Nintendoland, Wii Fit U, Game & Wario, and Monster Hunter Ultimate, which ensure something for everyone.

Rayman Legends, Deus Ex Human Revolution: DC, Need For Speed: Most Wanted U, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition are all fantastic ports of top games in their genre. Arguably the best versions, no doubt the most playable/accessible. Other third-party games worth recommending are Splinter Cell: Blacklist (would be the best version if they didn't remove local co-op), Darksiders 2, Injustice, Batman Arkham City (Gamepad inventory removing the need to pause constantly? Glorious), Call of Duty: Black Ops 2/Ghosts (dual screen local multi is no joke), Assassin's Creed 3/4 (my preferred way to play the "go from the icon to icon on radar" type of game design — pro controller in hand, Gamepad on stand/pillow, no HUD/radar on TV), Mass Effect 3 (if you aren't sure you want to play the whole lengthy trilogy, the Gamepad adds a lot and it actually works as a standalone experience), etc...

So that's a considerable amount of mostly cheap games to choose from, despite what may come in the future. But I also get a lot of usage out of Wii mode. The opportunity to plow through Wii gems (and maintain a Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom + Star Successor regimen) and frolic through my vast VC collection (so many unbelievable classics) either on the Gamepad or TV is not lost on me. And of course the eShop is a boon to backlogs as well. Love those indies, but the GBA VC is so nice I can't get enough.

Anyway, I kinda sorta hate to dump these sort of recommendations, but hopefully it helps either way. Good luck, have fun, and play some games.

EDIT: Pardon any poor form, I tapped this on my phone, at the park while my wife and kids dozed in the tall prairie grass.

Here are a couple good games to try:
Mario 3D World (becomes challenging after Bowser is defeated, excellent party game in the first half)
Pikmin 3 (also has great 2-player coop and battle modes)
Windwaker HD (if you haven't played it before)
DK: Tropical Freeze (brilliant platformer)
LEGO City: Undercover (fantastic open world game, but single player only)
Wonderful 101 (very different and challenging)
Rayman Legends (Wii U is the original platform, has a fun extra player mode on the GamePad)
Scram Kitty (a very challenging and original indie game, single player only)

Buy one.... it's a sweet bundle. Probably not as cool as my ZombiU bundle but it's still a good bundle.
It's a great console.

The only really top notch game I have played on the Wii U so far is Sonic Lost World (3D World / NSMBU / Mario Kart 8 are not that good I don't think).

Scram Kitty and NES Remix are not too bad either.

(Pretty sure I will like Donkey Kong as well but I would rather put off that nothing left to play feeling for as long as possible).

Just buy it, you have a large backlog of great games and alot more ahead. If you play all those games and the ones coming this year and are still not entertained then i don't know whats wrong with you! Joke , seriously though you can always trade it in late 2015 early 2016 when PS4/X1 library's look abit more healthy.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

unrandomsam just have different taste. To me, NSMBU isn't the best game I've played and neither was Sonic Lost World, but 3DWorld and MK8 were both fantastic. But that's my taste.

I agree with @Hy8ogen. If you like it, then reviews are not important. And you technically play games, not the machine, so you should be checking reviews for the games themselves.

If you are thinking you may regret it before purchasing, that may cloud the enjoyment you may have and become a self fulfilling prophecy. So I also recommend go ahead, and I hope you enjoy it a lot.

Some of my favorite games are SM3DW, Lego City Undercover, W101, Donkey Kong, Scram Kitty, Pikmin 3. Tomorrow I am picking up MK8.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

I don't understand how one can think that Sonic Lost World is better than 3DWorld, on production qualities alone. Granted I'm going by the demo only of Sonic Lost World, but still... it's a night and day. Technically, 3DWorld kills that game, and any 3D platformer except the Galaxies.
