why are people so shocked again?

Because it's another reason to hate on the Wii U, of course.

Wonkers

Loved Far Cry 1. Hated Far Cry 2, or rather, what I played of it before deciding I hated it. But reason enough for me to give up on the franchise altogether in any case. So this news matters nothing, personally.

Looking at the wider picture, repeating boring points etc, but ultimately this is not the kind of game that would have made people buy a Wii U so what's the point. MK8, Smash, Bayonetta 2 and perhaps X are what matters.

You guys are hardcore stereotypers. "Watered-down" ports... Are you freaking kidding? Apparently, no one remembers that PS2 was to GCN/Xbox as Wii U is to PS4/ Xbox One.

Ummm that doesn't make sense the PS2 was the best selling console that Gen it blew the Gamecube and Xbox out of the water. I think you meant it was like the Gamecube was to the PS2/Xbox.

The only good things on the PS2 are the exclusives. If it is multiplatform best to get it on Xbox/Gamecube/PS2 in that order.

I think he meant the PS2 was the "weakest" of the 3.

Yes but the reason why the PS2 got "ports" was because of its sales numbers. I think most games were designed for the PS2 then slightly improved on for the other two though

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Bingo. Wii U is getting a handful of criticism that PS2 never got in the same situation. The same thing goes for Xbox. Xbox had the best graphics and online during 6th gen, but people still bought PS2. I didn't see anyone say that PS2 was doomed, regardless of sales.

Now Wii U is in a similar situation, and all I hear is a bunch of complaints.

Simply put PS2 was selling gangbusters Wii U is selling quite badly thats why no one was saying the same thing about PS2.

Huh? The PS2 was ridiculously popular from day one and sold millions upon millions of consoles and had an enormous library of games. How is that in anyway comparable to the Wii-U, which isn't selling well at all, and has very few games on it?

The industry situation has changed, but there are plenty of similarities between Wii U and PS2. The only real difference was that Dreamcast was commercial suicide, which benefited PS2. Technologically, online, and price wise, Wii U is this gen PS2, sales aside. The Wii U has more games than PS4 and Xbox One, too, so...

Meh, I didn't really expect it to so it isn't a big deal to me. Even if it was I would still buy it on PS4 since it is a much more powerful system and I feel like it would offer a superior experience on that platform.

Honestly, the only reason I bought my Wii U is for the exclusive titles. If the Wii U gets third party games at all they are more than likely going to be watered down ports, just like what happened last generation with the Wii. I have my PlayStation 4 for all the awesome Sony exclusives as well as my multiplatform games, my Wii U for all the awesome Nintendo exclusives and my Xbone for the Microsoft exclusives.

Easy to say when one is privileged enough to have $1,200 (or more depending on your region) to spend on video game consoles.

If third party developers refuse to port games to the Wii U they're only hurting themselves, theirs still plenty of other games to enjoy and if a particular third party developer consistently refuses to support my favorite console why should I support them? Maybe I'll buy a PS4 someday, maybe I'll stick with a gaming PC and my Wii U, to be honest the latter sounds the most reasonable considering how lackluster and mediocre the bulk of third party games have been for some time now.

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand that there are those who can't afford all the consoles and I'm lucky that I have a job good enough that allows me to support my family as well as support my hobby. My point was moreso that Nintendo systems have generally always been about their exclusive games more than the third party titles. Ever since the N64, in my opinion.

As far as developers not supporting your favorite console, I can understand the frustration but you also have to understand they are a business. If a developer doesn't think they can sell enough copies of their game on a certain console then I really can't blame them for not porting that game. From what I've been reading about Wii U games it seems that the majority haven't been meeting their sales targets, so it really makes no sense for a developer to spend the time and money to port a game to the Wii U when it is almost certain that they won't make that money back.

That's cause it's been out on the market a year more then the others. I think a more important note is which has more UPCOMING software, then it's a different story, heck even the PS3 and Xbox360 have more coming out soon then the Wii U. Before you bash me for being a hater or something I only have the Wii U as my home console. Nintendo aren't doing enough for the system, I want the thing to sell, I want the third party support... I WANT SMEGGING SW:BF 3 FOR IT! With studies and bills to pay I don't have the time or money to own multiple consoles (made that mistake last gen)

It doesn't matter how much longer it took for Wii U to gether that library, though. Even if the reason that Wii U has more games, was a direct result of being available longer, doesn't change that it still has more games. Ubisoft had the right idea by supporting Wii U, but anyone that would have bought those games was an Xbox or PS fan, so it didn't matter whether Wii U got those game or not, in a sense.

Don't even worry. It's just annoying beyond words, that everyone just assumes Wii U won't be supported. At the end of the day, 3rd parties are looking at an install base of around 18 million, which includes all home consoles(not PC). If 6 million of those people don't matter, they can go f*** themselves.

I know Far Cry 3 was widely acclaimed, as was Blood Dragon, but I still can't help but not be phased by this news. I didn't like the first two and didn't even bother with the third. I enjoyed Blood Dragon, but mostly as a parody of FPSes and a homage to the 80's. I wouldn't miss it if I never got to play Far Cry 4.

Once 8th gen hits its full stride, Wii U will absolutely need to be supported. I don't think it matters as much, right now, but that doesn't change that people will dish out any sort of "doom 'n gloom", BEFORE crap hits the fan.

Why don't we just make one combined thread of games not coming to Wii U instead of having multiple threads of every game that's not coming to Wii U (which is like almost every single third party game that exists.

Part of the issue seems to be that during Generation 6 people put alot less emphasis on power and graphics and more value on the games themselves. It seems that somewhere in generation 7 that switched around and now many people buy a system just because it's powerful and has the best graphics. So the PS2 wasn't criticised for it's graphical capabilities partly due to that. Also PS2 sales were fantastic so you still can't really compare it to the Wii U.

I'm talking besides sales. If people would have acted the way they are now, back in 6th gen, PS2 would have been in the same situation Wii U is.

Yeah true. Or if people still acted the way they did back in 6th gen now, then maybe the Wii U wouldn't be in it's current situation.

Exactly. To be fair, the situation probably wouldn't be the same, but the idea that things could(be) have been different is important.
