I just got Super Mario Galaxy 2 as an early Xmas present . It was the last Wii game that I really wanted and hadn't bought yet.
Plus, just getting into Kirby's Epic Yarn, which is awesome!

I don't, because I hate wiimotes.

I never owned a Wii for that exact reason, and when I got my Wii U I bought Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess to get a start on my Wii backlog. Great, great games, but the motion controls - just ugh.

Even worse, I really can't justify spending money on batteries. I got custom rechargeable batteries that in theory would allow me to just plug the Wiimotes in whenever they were running out and keep playing, but they didn't really work.

So yeah, I'm one of those guys who are really hoping for a Mario Galaxy 1+2 HD remake.

Twilight Princess gamecube version; because Nintendo doesn't include control options on the Wii!

Also, Xenoblade Chronicles was ambitious, but as a result it was jaggies: the game. I have no idea why it's being downscaled to new 3DS instead of upscaled to Wii U.

Yes! There are Wii games that I missed and still want to play them.

I still play my Wii a lot. I was going to transfer my data from Wii to Wii U, but I learned that all of the memory gets deleted from the Wii. That's not what I want. I want to be able to play my Wii games on either the Wii AND the Wii U not OR. The reason I wanted to switch was so I wouldn't have two sensor bars on my TV, one above it and one below it.

But back to the original point, I play my Wii a lot more now than I did when it was "relevant" ... I find myself going back and playing a lot of the games for it because I miss them or because I never played them. I recently got Pandora's Tower and Last Story, and I still need to get Other M (I've heard mixed things about it, but I want to try it) and I want to go back and finish Deadly Creatures and a few other games that I foolishly sold back/traded in for X360 games (I'll never forgive myself if I can't find those games again).

Nah. I used to play games in Wii mode, but then I decided to just hook up my Wii again for the BC with Gamecube.

I don't buy Wii games very often, but I still play Xenoblade and some virtual console games.

Now, if the graphics (textures and models) were upscaled to HD, the expenses probably would've been big... although 3D models and textures are to my understanding first created in higher definition/polycount and then downscaled/simplified for the actual game as needed.

Other reasons why 3DS and not Wii U: 1) You can already play it on the Wii U. 2) Wii U is already getting XCX.

I haven't read anything on Xenoblade outside of reviews. I just played it and saw... the jaggies, oh god, the jaggies. I mean, it was an alright game, you know, if you like MMO combat and questing. The story seemed equivalent to a decent anime with pretty bad writing for the dialogue.

And neither of the reasons you listed explain why it shouldn't be uprezzed to Wii U instead of further kneecapped to run on new 3DS. Xenoblade just should have been a Wii U launch title in NA. I suppose Nintendo might have a hang up with rereleasing it on Wii U when the game itself isn't 10 years old like Ocarina, Wind Waker, and Majora's Mask. That doesn't matter, though, since relatively few people bought the game the first time it released (which also might be a reason not to remake it).

Could it have something to do with NoA deciding to release it in a limited print exclusively through one retailer? Probably.

I'd love to use my Wii (mostly because it's the only way to play Project M with a GameCube controller), but sadly, Brawl broke the disc reader a long time ago, and I never had enough money left to replace it. Someday, though!

@Haru17: Why 2): With two very similar games competing in the same space, the sales per released game would probably decrease (why buy both when even one is more than enough for most players?) The question becomes whether the lower cost of creating the port would offset this effect. Why 1): Same root cause. And I'm not so sure XB is that rare in Europe. I doubt I'm the only one to have XB on Wii and zero interest in getting a HD port of it unless it cost under 10€.

How big is the group of people who have a Wii U but not Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii, yet are interested in JRPGs? If Wii U is for Nintendo-brand-loyal users, then a fair share of Wii U owners had a Wii. If they were JRPG fans, XC was probably on their to-get list. So... how many JRPG fans are there with a Wii U but have already played XC on a Wii? (I'm making big assumptions that aren't necessarily true, so take this line of reasoning with a grain of salt.) Actually - there probably is some data of how well Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U did compared to Monster Hunter 3 on Wii... but I'm too lazy to search for it.

And to summarize the link I posted: the scope of the game with its budget was made possible by having simpler graphics (models, textures) than HD consoles would've put out.

Well if they were going to release it on wii u the time would have been either at launch as a cross gen release or sometime in 2013. You'd have to give a year or so of lead time so people could complete Xenoblade Chronicles in time to become interested in the sequel when it launches (if it actually does launch in 2015).

Honestly I'm not that fussed either way, as playing xenoblade felt like playing wow, and wow is cancer sooo. Seriously though, if you don't like walking very slowly across very large, barren plains, auto attacking enemies and waiting for health bars to gradually dip, and grinding boring side quests for hours then this game's not for you. I mean really, why do you only control one character at a time if every move is going to cast sometime 3 seconds after you've pressed the button? Why lock you to one character at a time if that audio visual feedback for the combat is so dissatisfying and why not just go full dragon age and let you manage the entire party in battle?

Now, having read that, you probably understand why I think further downgrading the game to new 3ds is preposterous.

Dang, I haven't played a Wii game in so long. I don't really play it much as you can see. I think I've played a Wii game a few times since launch.

I do; in fact my Wii collection is growing because a lot of Wii U games are reminding me of games I shouldn't have sold or never picked up (trophies in Smash and Hyrule Warriors are the main guilty parties). In fact I'm playing Pikmin 2 New Play Control right now!

I decided to sell my Wii and while testing it, the last time I played was before buying my Wii U and Full HD TV (I had an SD TV), I noticed that my TV have an awesome upscaler or the Wii U has a really bad one.

Gamecube and Wii games looks ages better on my Wii than on my Wii U, I think I'm going to buy an component cable to use together with the HDMI on my Wii U now.

I hope with Component Cables the images on Wii U's Wii mode will be just as good as my wii

Yes. I admit I did not play Xenoblade or Last Story until about 6 months ago. I am always expanding my Wii game library since most games are really cheap to get now. And old games doenst mean bad games. My Nintendo library is always growing. Same goes for DS. I am still adding games to my 3ds library.
