There's almost no way Yoshi's Wooly World is coming out in the next 3 months. I really don't think Mario Maker is either. Personally I'm not bothered by the drought as there's always something great to find in the last 30 years of gaming that I haven't played yet, but I do shake my head when people try and defend a drought by saying 'Hey, there's no drought, we got Mario Party and Tipping Stars!'. Tipping Stars has a 69 metacritic rating and the average Mario Party usually scores quite a bit lower than that again. You're pretty much telling people just to be happy with any old rubbish that gets put out. Heck, Kirby is only a 76, and it's looking likely that will be all we'll see for the first half of 2015.
I think what we're seeing is the real problem with lack of 3rd party support. When Nintendo gets it right, their games are amazing, but supporting two consoles is too much for one publisher. They're stretched too thinly, pushing out games that are either just copy and pastes of something that came before (Tipping Stars and Kirby), or something that's had to be rushed to fill a release schedule like Codename STEAM.

Fair call... although it's worth looking at the other platforms for context. There aren't that many more games coming out for PS4/XBOne/PC in the same period. There's The Witcher, The Order 1866, Mortal Kombat X, Evolve and that's about it. Does RE:Revelations 2 count? Sure there's "more" there but not by much. Always slim pickings for any platform at this time of the year.
I just think it shows the short term memory of people to be complaining about this. In 2013 we got basically nothing between January and August. As someone who owned a Wii U in that period the game I played and enjoyed the most was Rayman Legends... the free challenge app. Now THAT'S a software drought!

It pretty much depends on when you got the Wii U too. Things such as the December 2012-August 2013 Wii U game drought is a reason not to own the console in the first place. I waited until September 2013 to get mine so the biggest game drought I experienced was either the February-May or May-September ones last year. What kept me going back to my Wii U in those 2 droughts you ask?
February-May
World Crown in SM3DW is insanely difficult
Tropical Freeze is actually very difficult in some parts of the game
Bought and played games I missed due to buying the console when I did
February and April Nintendo Directs
Sonic Lost World DLC gave inspiration to get all red rings (i.e. 100% completion)
May-September
Mario Kart 8's online (including GameXplain and Nintendo Life tournaments)
E3 hype
Finished WWHD
Bought a few 3rd party multiplatform games (Sonic Transformed, Rayman Legends and SC Blacklist)
> Captain Toad and Kirby get delayed and suddenly NoE doesn't know how to work with the European ratings boards.
It has nothing to do with troubles with the ratings board (otherwise this would have happened more often) or bugs needed to be ironed out (see above). The restructuring and shift in locations is the most likely culprit here and thus larger titles needed to be prioritized to prevent them from getting delayed.
That's pretty much what I've been saying for the last six months. NoE even said that the restructuring was likely going to cause some delay. The fact that both Captain Toad and Kirby have been moved forward after getting delayed, only tells me that they're working really hard to get the games out as soon as possible. (as Captain Toad was originally planned for January 9, but was moved to January 2 or even before Christmas is some places, and Kirby was originally set to release in Q3/4, now it's May 8).
Nintendo just doesn't care about Europe all that much. With the recent closure in Brazil and the possible coming software drought, it's becoming pretty apparent. Something needs to change in how they handle things AND SOON before they pack up shop in EU completely due to lack of sales and buzz.
Well the main problem is nothing to do with Nintendo. It's the ridiculous beuraucracy in place to dissuade indie developers from releasing games in Europe!
