So after the Direct today here in Europe we have two games scheduled for release between now and May. Granted its not much better than in the US but if you aren't interested in Mario party 10, which I'm not, no new software until Splatoon. Which isn't much better than 2014 but the difference is Nintendo has enough exclusives for pretty much once a month. Do you think the software launches will be mostly bunched together? What is everyone's thoughts on this?
For me its not too bad because I have a PS4 and a 3DS so I will have things to play but this can't be great news for Wii U only owners.

Vita and 3DS have the best frequency and quality of releases this gen, and that's a sort of goofy thing. Still love the games on my Wii U though. A new game dropped every few months is just fine for me. I wouldn't have time for more games than that anyway.
The PS4 and XBO are both just bargain PCs though, and I already have a PC. Just got Dragon Age: Inquisition this month and can't wait to crack it open.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
This is what I was worried about. Don't have any interest in Mario Party 10 because I hate the all in 1 car setup that was introduced in 9. Even with 3DS, my interest is pretty much Majora's Mask 3D in terms of games before May (might get Mario vs DK). Looks like I'm mainly playing games I already own then with new Rock Band DLC being a savior yet again.
Personally I am just getting to know the world of nintendo, getting lots of ds and wii games lately... so for me its not really that bad, and there is actually a lot to look forward to (zelda, star fox, yoshi) but owning just a wii u with no interest in the old wii games maybe a small problem unless you dont play so much. Personally I am having a blast...
It comes as no suprise then that Nintendo have had to try and bridge the gap with the new Wii VC. Even then there's only two games that I want out of the whole bunch. DKCR and Punch Out Wii.

It's January 14th. It was the first Nintendo Direct for the year. It was a long Nintendo Direct, and it was focused mainly on the n3DS. They are also releasing 2 Wii U games on the same day in March, which I don't think they would do if they hadn't any game for April, for example (Yoshi's Woolly World is already announced by NoA for that period). There will be more Nintendo Directs with more announcement dates.
That said, I still don't understand the Kirby delay in Europe.
Nintendo just doesn't care about Europe all that much. With the recent closure in Brazil and the possible coming software drought, it's becoming pretty apparent. Something needs to change in how they handle things AND SOON before they pack up shop in EU completely due to lack of sales and buzz.

Brazil is not in NoE territory.
European countries are all different. France apparently likes the Wii U. Captain Toad reached #1 in Germany on the release, which never could happen in a country like England. Scandinavian countries are handled by Bergsala. And so on.

Yea it isn't like you guys are getting a hardware bundle that NA isn't or anything like that.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10, Splatoon, Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario Maker and Project Giant Robot are all Q1/Q2 2015 titles. If that's a drought, you need to find yourself another hobby.

Although I have little proof; my best guess would be the relocation of the Nintendo's European headquarters in Germany last year. iirc, they announced that it might cause some delay, and I imagine they wanted to make sure to get Smash done in time. Kirby is just low priority at the moment, especially if you consider the sales of an average Kirby game in Europe. It also explains why Captain Toad arrived so late. Anyway, if my guess is even partly true; I'd expect little to no delays for the rest of 2015 in Europe, compared to NA.

I'm just not sure why they wouldn't even mention woolly world and mario maker if they are coming in the spring. Surely this was the best time to show them off if they are still coming out soon, to be honest you are probably right but we will know sooner rather than later

Well they have been doing Directs almost monthly, maybe they are holding on to them for next month

I agree - gotta hold something back for a Feb direct.
Anyway, the real solution to a Wii U software drought is to double down on Nintendo and pick up a N3DS. I did, its a good decision. Now every Direct has something, and I can play new Fire Emblem.
And anyway, how many games are you buying? My N3DS cost basically the equivalent of 3 games so it doesn't break the bank.

I feel if you really need both Nintendo systems to enjoy Nintendo, or else every game not coming you the system you own is viewed as something that you should be able to play but can't

I love how people are lamenting NoE's lack of whatever when in reality it's NoA that been repeatedly dropping the ball the past year. No DKC VC, amiibo shortages, no regular size New 3DS announced, no anime streaming app just announced, and that's just a few problems from recent memory.

1 side gets some better stuff mixed with some bad stuff, the other gets the opposite

Exactly, Europe doesn't have Aria of Sorrow for the Wii U VC
So the lack of retail releases means a drought? How many eShop titles may be released not to mention Virtual Console titles - heck how many are already there? My backlog is ludicrous - I could not buy anything this year and not get bored. I have to assume anyone with this opinion has pretty narrow tastes or goes through games like bubble gum.
