I hope the eShop we find on the 3DS will be what the Wii U will have with Wii U related content. Not to mention our digital wallet would be shared across 3DS and Wii U's eShop. I think it is very likely Nintendo will do this and is it very much needed.
I so hope to it would be Steam, then I can link up my Steam account on the PC with the Wii U!
are you hoping that because you want your steam games to work on the wiiu or just some sort of online benifit?
Well I don't mind if steams games work on Wii U or not, but it's a solid service that's why I want it.
fair enough i hope for a steam too for number of reasons such as
cross platforming play granted that theres a balance since pc people with great hardware are likely to up thier game settings and who knows since sony is open to steam in certain extent may we even see cross platforming game say left 4 dead between pc-ps3-wiiu but i highly doubt it though so i'll let that one drown in my mind
if they are handling the service you could see decent sales that im sure will boost nintendo downloadable games n such
dont have anything else to add at the moment other then im not sure about EA orgins as i only heard bad things about it and within the users good reason
Don't be delusional guys. There is zero chance for Nintendo just going to EA or Valve and asking them to make Origin or Steam the WiiU's online store. That way, Nintendo would make themselves completely dependent on them and would have to share whatever margins they take of DD sales with another company. And whatever regulations Nintendo would have in mind for their online store, they'd have to agree on with EA or Valve, first. It's just not an option.
I could see a scenario, where Nintendo allows them to integrate their online systems into their games, including achievements, friend-lists, Voip communication etc.. Maybe they'd even let them handle updates of their games and DLCs through their own networks. That's about as far, as a Nintendo as the platform owner can reasonably go though.
Edit: And if you're hoping that Steam's or Origin's games would just work on the WiiU, forget it. These were developed for the PC or Mac and would have to be ported to the WiiU first.

yeah in all honesty im hoping which is likely to be true that nintendo has thier own store and in control of what goes on thier system etc etc
I'm not sure what I'm expecting for the eShop on the Wii U. I hope they get consistent and it carries over from what is currently on the 3DS, that's for sure.
They already have a lot of retro content on the Wii Virtual Console, so hopefully that carries over and they continue to bring out more older titles. More original content is great too, but I'm always wary of that stuff just being gimmicky and cheap.
I'd be interested to see what other retro systems might make their way to the Wii U VC/eShop this time around. More powerful hardware could mean more options in that department.

I've been doing a lot of thinking about the Wii VC lately. As much as I like to complain about the slow release schedule of new VC games, there are still a lot of games I want to buy from it. If all the VC games in the current Wii shop transfer over to the WiiU VC, that would be a huge foundation for them to build on. Around 350 VC games available from day one. I'd like to think that the VC will start picking up steam once the WiiU launches, but I guess we will have to wait and see. I'm hoping to see other developers that skipped the Wii's VC jump on board the WiiU VC (EA, Kemco, etc.) and that other MIA developers return to the VC (Namco, Konami, Activision, etc.) Nintendo just needs to promote the service better on the WiiU, and I hope they will.
Also, if other developers take an example from Sega's addition of online multiplayer in SSF2, there could be a renewed interest in the service. The option to play the game exactly as it was on the Genesis is available, so the game was not changed at all. I am definately excited to see what Nintendo's plans for the WiiU VC are. Let's just hope they learned from their mistakes on the Wii.
I would love to my VC games transfer over, Nintendo really needs to get that down. They should make single sign on accounts and tie digital sales to the hardware.
Given they are going to be selling full retail Wii U games on the Wii U "eShop" I'd hope that the Wii U VC includes Gamecube and Wii titles. I'm kinda on the fence about buying Wii U games on the eShop but Gamecube games? Now that's more like it!
As long as the prices aren't ridiculous.....

I'm pretty sure early statements on the Wii-U suggested that they're open to giving more space to third party sales platforms. I wasn't alone in thinking that might mean that the EA online shop or even Steam could be potentially offered on the Wii-U - it would certainly make for an interesting proposition and be a major gateway to get third parties on the system.
I don't know about anyone else, but "3rd party online networks" could also mean distribution couldn't it? As long as Nintendo gets a cut, why not allow Steam to be offered side-by-side?
It's interesting you know. The average Australian xDSL/Fibre internet subscriber downloads 15GB according to the stats (up from 10GB a year ago!)..... and Nintendo is expecting people to download 10GB+ games. It's crazy, stuffs like this is happening all the time.
Before you know it the average user will be downloading 100GB/mo!
