An apparent source within Electronic Arts has suggested that the company may be working with Nintendo to bring EA Origin to the Wii U. This is what the source said:
Many publishers are happy with Xbox Live’s features, but they aren’t happy with how strict Microsoft’s guidelines are. Nintendo went with an open flexible approach with online because when Nintendo asked developers/publishers what they wanted in an online service, that was the number one thing they asked for.
This would make sense based on Peter Moore's enthusiasm and Reggie Fils-Aime insistence on a flexible online system, but of course must be relegated to a rumor for the time being.
Apparently, Valve is interested in bringing Steam to the platform as well, but Electronic Arts is:
...aggressively persuading Nintendo to go Origin-exclusive with Wii U’s online so they can gain a competitive advantage over Steam.
If any of this is true, it's certainly interesting. Let's hope there's some weight to it.
