The real joke is that EA can't even get Frostbite running properly on more powerful machines

I thought April's Fools was supposed to be FUNNY and humorous trolling... how is what DICE did funny? I'm not even looking at it from a Wii U supporter's view. How are DICE's tweets even funny????? I can't help but think its highly unprofessional.
That's my opinion. I'm not butthurt over the situation. I honestly don't even care.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I'm not a fan of EA, but I don't see the problem with the tweets. They were also poking fun at Playstation, Xbox, and PC along with Valve with the Half-Life 3 Tweet.

Are people really this bothered by these tweets? During the 16-Bit era, both Sega and Nintendo traded barbs with each other that went further than what EA did. Sony once did ads with Crash Bandicoot calling out Mario in front of NOA's headquarters. These tweets are pretty tame compared to some of the ads that Sega, Sony, and Nintendo used to run

I can understand not liking these tweets, but its not a big deal. Honestly, I think Sega's "Sega does what Nintendon't" would never fly with modern gamers. They would be complaing about how Sega is making tasteless jokes about Nintendo.

With that said, these tweets were not really that funny. Although, I did get a little laugh from the Half-Life 3 one.

I even wonder how the guys who work for Nintendo felt when they saw the tweets. They prolly rolled their eyes and ignored it. Maybe it kinda bothered them? Nintendo has a image of being nice and stuff so they can't even tweet playfully OR angrily back.
I still say the tweets was a SHOT at the Wii U INSTEAD of something actually funny and humorous trolling.
ONCE AGAIN... I'm not butthurt. It really doesn't bother me. I still say it was unprofessional, though.

The difference is that Nintendo and EA aren't competitors. It's in EA's interest for there to be multiple platforms all doing well on the market. EA doesn't gain anything from trying to tear the Wii U down. They don't want to make it anymore difficult for their content to sell on Nintendo's platform. A series of tweets saying that supporting the Wii U is something that'll never happen to the point that it's a joke? What does that say about any future games they might put on the system?

Very different to making fun of a competitor. Especially when that competitor is a major threat to your business. Genesis did what Nintendon't because Nintendo was outselling them and every SNES sale was a lost Genesis customer.

TBH those tweets are cringeworthy at best(?). They're not even funny on themselves.

You know what's funny? Battlefield 4 bugs completly ironed out. HA!

At this point I stopped caring what EA says in general.

The scent of the burning bridge that EA keeps dumping gasoline on is getting really stinky. This was just unprofessional and not in anyway funny. If EA ever expects to sell their games on Nintendo platforms, they'd be wise not to insult an entire consoles fanbase because as far as I'm concerned, if you're an jerk, you're not getting my money. Grow up EA. You make fun of the Wii U yet you can't even get Battlefield 4 working properly. You're just a big joke

I thought it was one of the guys who work with/on the Frostbite engine and not someone from EA directly that made the tweets? Doesn't mean it was any less cringe-worthy and unfunny (perhaps even a bit unprofessional and in poor taste), but I was under the impression it was an "underling" and not EA directly.

The real irony to me is that the original founders of DICE would probably approve more of Nintendo's approach to creating software than the approach made by the current DICE. The original DICE team was founded by a group of extremely gifted high-school hackers, which were obsessed by getting as much from the running hardware as possible, regardless of what platform the programmed on. They also produced software with very few bugs. More than 20 years ago, I got the opportunity to test an incredible shoot-em-up game for the PC that they were developing. I thought it was running just perfectly, but they weren't satisfied. That product was never released AFAIK.
All of these original gifted programmers have now left DICE.

I would say it was Distasteful, take a look at Google and Blizzard for inspiration on how to do April Fools(its a great marketing opportunity).I think a lot of people got upset about this one in particular due to the whole EA being on board with Nintendo statement and then a complete and utter lack of anything.

Not to mention everyone hates EA so they shouldnt at fuel to the fire.

Unfortunately, there are some people out there who don't know how to do tasteful and funny April Fool's jokes.

I'm not saying we should take these FrostbiteEngine people and hang them upside down by their toenails....but April Fool's jokes are not meant to demean or make fun of others. It should be a harmless prank where everyone gets some "yucks" out of it.

It isn't insulting (to me at least) it just isn't funny. Maybe I just don't get it

Ignorance is bliss.

A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road.

At what point did they insult the fanbase? They poked fun at the console. If you think you are the Wii U that's just weird.

Someone needs to tell the Frostbite people how April Fool's Day works. You are supposed to trick people into believing something that isn't true. Those tweets are dripping with sarcasm. It is a slam against the Wii U and not a jokey barb. I'm not paraticularly offended, being a Wii U owner, but it was a very stupid post.

The majority of April Fool's day jokes are obvious and sarcastic. The point of most aren't to trick people, so much as it is to be a joke that's clearly a joke. It's kind of hard to trick people on day that says "I'm gonna say something that's not true" too.
