I used to say that about sports games all the time. They're generally sort of fun(this is coming from someone who has never bought one, but has played them), but it's definitely not worth buying it every year.

Personally, I don't know anyone who buys them every year. Usually the sports fans I know just buy them ever 2 or 3 years, where the upgrades are more obvious. Sure, plenty of people buy them every year, but at least some people know how to play it smart.

I've known people that would buy every sports game every year, and would do the fantasy team things. I just never cared.

Still the update thing should definitely happen. Charge $60 for one game. Upgrade the hell out of it for half of a new one or something.
Discs could still be available, but give digital buyers a break...
I would buy it if they just kept updating it, and it wasn't gimped for Wii U. I almost actually bought all those ports until I figured out EA shot the games in the face, then put a cast on it.

A lot of company's are not intrested in the WiiU due to the bad sales and the people that have one are more intrested in Nintendo games anyway.

Like I would rather buy Call of Duty ghosts for the One then the WiiU.

To be honest I don't Really like EA due to there BS and money grubbing ways. I try and evoyed them the best I can.

Its pretty ironic that Metacritic's two top rated games for Wii U are made by EA.
http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/score/metascore/all/wi...
I think this is just a little hint that EA is almost vital for the Wii U. EA has plenty of great titles and talented studios. Popcap's games could be amazing on Wii U. Miiverse, and social media can be fully recognized with EA's sports games. They have some of the most talented studios of all time. Command and Conquer can be well on the Gamepad. Need for Speed is a large franchise, and looks to have their priorities straight.

I bought Madden 2013.... I would probably buy 2014 at a reduced price, like under $30. Disappointed that they won't have next year, but far from devastated. Hopefully sales pick up for the Wii U and we see this in 2015.

NFL2K5 is still my go to football fix. If I ever get the itch for another sports game, it's usually 5+ years later. For baseball I still play Slugfest '06, which is over the top arcade style. It's not worth updating every year to me.

I can probably go 2-3 years with just Madden 13, maybe more. IF i really want to update, I'll wait until PS4 comes down in price.

I see a lot of people want 3rd Party support but won't support 3rd Party's most successful titles. Here is what I think:

What happens is when 3rd Party looks to support a system then they might port their most successful titles to see what the high end of money they can make on the system. It is a good idea on paper but I don't think it is smart. What would be smarter is porting smaller games, now with digital distribution it is easier. These smaller games will require less money to port or create and in turn require less money to be successful. If you build your name, even for the big guys like EA and Activision, using smaller titles it will cause people to want bigger titles and as your fan base grows on the system you need to support the system more. Throwing out your biggest title at the same price causes a division. If someone is already playing it on a different system they are more likely to continue to play it on that system. If you release a new IP or smaller title (example: Garden Warfare) on the new system then there is less division. So to succeed on Wii U it is less about copying Nintendo and more about building your name on the Nintendo system, rather than expecting Nintendo System Owners who haven't played your game to run out and support your big IP that they weren't already supporting on a different system.

In short bigger companies should think about porting their smaller titles to Wii U for a long-road view, before porting their biggest titles for the quick cash-in.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

If this follows on the WiiU then EA still wonders why the WiiU numbers isn't selling (or at least not as much) then... heh-heh oh boy.

Here's a fun little video to go along with it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAyh9b5szTQ The charts for everything with EA slapped on it is going to go into the pooper, just be prepared if it does eventually get put into play.

You also realize that's simply converting the currencies, which no one does. If anything, EA would charge $70 for the games in the US. So why does Wii U need EA again?

Wow... that price article is interesting. I don't' think EA will come out swinging in the U.S. with $80 price tags. They're smart enough to know they would scare many, MANY consumers away. HOWEVER, I do believe they will eventually get to that price point, maybe over the course of months to a year. They might try it out with one of their heavy hitters like Battlefield 4, a game they know that a devoted core will purchase at nearly any price (kind of like Call of Duty's outrageously expensive DLC ... they know they had us). If things go over well there and most people "swallow the pill," I can see the company slowly pushing up the game prices to the point where 70 bucks is the "norm" for PS4/Xbone games this time next year.

EDIT: But after more thought, if this kind of thing happens on the consoles, I really really hope people who haven't made the switch start seriously considering PC. It would be ludicrous to continue console gaming at those prices. Even if you spent a few hundred more dollars to build a really nice PC, the cost in games over the lifespan of your console would easily outpace what you'd spend altogether on a gaming rig. Just glancing at my Steam window right now, I could pick up Dishonored for 10 bucks, Max Payne 3 for 10 bucks, the Tomb Raider reboot for 12 bucks, or Fallout 3 for FIVE DOLLARS. That's insane. Go look those prices up for the 360/PS3 RIGHT NOW and see the difference. That's what you're talking about for the lifespan of a system. And if you don't like board and mouse? Hook up a wired 360 controller and you won't even know the difference. If EA does this they would be shooting the whole console market in the foot.

We can talk about EA as "crap" but lets overview the facts:

1. Wii U is "next gen" console
2. EA is selling Millions of game copies
3. EA has several important Sport, Simulation, FPS IP's

If they don't drop all their IP's on Next Gen NINTENDO console, THEN something is wrong with Nintendo.
There is no excuse. We can speculate about reason, but the fact is we won't see next gen FIFA, NFS, NHL, NBA LIVE, Battlefield, Dragon age !?!?!!!!!
on Wii U. "you can play them on PS4" is not excuse. Nintendo lied us about "unprecedented relationship with EA".

I don't want to OWN 2 consoles just so I can play Nintendo games, and if Nintendo is making Wii U just for their games... well SEGA scenario
will happen then.

They didn't lie, the partnership dissolved before anything came from it. If you want to say someone lied then it would have to be both companies, not just one.

Nintendo didn't tell EA to go on stage for their conference. They decided to "show support" out of their own free will.

It's not Nintendo's fault one bit that EA made a claim to show support, then backed out.
