Personal (Tuurtledove) Thoughts:

Super Mario 3D Land:
Those lighting flairs are just unnecessary. Honestly. And it's not exactly the game I was expecting, especially after receiving Galaxy One+Two. Though the fur-player competitive/multiplayer looks pretty fleshed out. And if I can casually play alongside siblings and friends and enjoy myself, then I'm not complaining. Also, Kitten suits.

Mario Kart Eight:
I played hours upon hours of the original Wii version. Besides Animal Crossing it's my most played game. Just skyping friends and playing competitively online against friends was really neat fun. So suffice to say, I'm excited

Wind Waker:
Jaw Dropping. Eye-ball Gozzling goodiness to be discovered in this. Having never had the opportunity to play the original I can already tell I'll be putting several hours into this particular remake. And they did an excellent job of reconstructing it for that matter

Donkey Kong Country:
Perhaps it's not the Super Metroid we were all waiting for. Though Retro has still once again managed to out-do themselves. And personally, I think this looks like an incredible platformer, still not entirely sure whether I wish to pick it up though

Monolith Software:
Possibly a system selling game. And I'm not even exaggerating here. This'll be sure to draw in Bethesda/RPG fans in alike. And it's certainly a beautiful title. Seems like Monolith Software are soon becoming one of the more notable teams out there

Super Smash Brothers:
The fans cries have been heard. And they've been rewarded for their impatient patience. Because Mega Man has finally arrived, and by god is he adorable!. (Seriously, I just want to mush him up in a snuggle). Also, possibly the worlds best trailer for that matter

Good luck with that.

Hmm, What makes you say that?
You don't believe the Monolith Software title they displayed today was incredible enough?

No.

Not system selling, not Bethesda fan drawing.

You're not the only one my friend,
Though I unfortunately missed out on Xenoblade,
I'm seriously considering getting this upon its launch and finally entering the JRPG genre for good.
Because those are certainly some stunning visuals they displayed there, and the gameplay and world looks incredible

I think it was a pretty nice Direct! We got the new 3D Mario! Sadly it wasn't the totally new, free-roaming one we hoped for, but it looks pretty cool nonetheless! I also love the cat-suit!

Then there was the new Mariokart wich marks the return of the bikes (I am sooo happy about that) and goes a bit f-zero this time with the anti-gravity mechanic! This allows for crazy race-tracks!

Then there was the sequel to one of the finest sidescrolling platformers of past years, DKC Returns 2! And this time you can swim! Why they have chosen yet AGAIN to not use the Kremlins is anyone's guess though!

And then there was the first Super smash brothers Wii u and 3DS footage! Megaman is in it (that's awesome)! I am not so sure about the graphics of the 3DS version though (the characters look like cut-outs), but 4 players on the 3DS version was unexpected in my opinion!

Update: Yes, the characters have outlines in the 3DS version. But from the developer video it didn't look that bad!

Wonderful 101 looked great, but I already new that!

The Xenoblade chronicles sequel (or whatever it is) also looks promising!

Bayonetta 2 could be fun, but I am not entirely sure!

Windwaker HD didn't look that different in my opinion! From the first screenshots I expected a bigger difference! Though I must say I saw the footage at the lowest quality!

Only a pity that there was no Zelda 3DS or Yarn Yoshi footage, but now there is a new Zelda trailer available!

Oh, and they showed a Oddworld remake for the e-shop (as a Nintendo follower, I have never played Oddworld before)! And the first e-shop game that they showed also looked interesting!

So that sums it up!

I don't think the Bethesda RPG crowd will be drawn in by X. It's very much in the JRPG camp. The trailer looked great, but I'm not letting my expectations get too high, as trailers can make anything look great these days. Xenoblade Chronicles was one my favourite games last gen, but Monolith have put out plenty of less than great games, so not sure we should be expecting every game to of XC's quality.

I think I've said in a few threads, I was a bit disappointed overall, but only because my expectations were so high. Nintendo might have played it a bit safe, but who can blame them? They need to get the Wii U out of this sales rut and they can only do that with good games. I've gone from only being interested in 3 announced games (Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101 and X), to now also having Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. It's only two extra, but they'll both be great and they really help to fill out what was looking like quite a bare 2013.
