This e3 we will get a lot of information about the wii u and xbox 720 and ps4 is supposed to be at e3 aswell.This will be great as nintendo will have to work even harder to prove to gamers that the wii u is the system they want for the next-gen which will result in a better launch than if nintendo didn't have to work so hard to beat the competition. There should be good games shown off that will be launch titles nintendo is very clever especially in how they have turned the nintendo 3ds around from failing to a success.So they will have learned their lesson and will make sure the wii u launches with triple A launch titles. We will also get confirmed specs but nintendo said that it won't be cheap and the videos of games on their e3 2011 site look amazing so the specs are likely to be impressive.Another thing we will learn more about is the wii u's online which must be strong and from the looks of their efforts so far on the 3ds it should be atleast on par with psn I wouldnt go as far as saying on par with live because live has funding from the subscriptions.I will say I am considering getting a wii u at launch like I did my dsi and 3ds but I will wait to see what nintendo says at e3 and what microsoft and sony have to show off.

Yay the big Wii U reveal! Nintendo in HD! Finally we'll get to see some actual games too!
PS4? A system that will likely cost 800 dollars or more with graphics about the same as PS3.

But the psp was strong in Japan so if the vita is failing in a territory the psp was strong it is likely to not perform well in other regions and the psp's best weapon in the console war has now been lost to nintendo with tri g and monster hunter 4.

Can't wait to hear more about the Wii U and it's launch lineup. Plus, more 3DS games announced(more on the Donkey Kong that's supposed to come out for the 3DS, a Metroid for 3DS? etc. etc.)

Oh yeah we also have more on 3ds I want pokemon at e3.

i'm going to go ahead and spoil the surprise now:

the ps4 and xbox720 will be just like the ps3 and 360 only much more powerful and with more extraneous features unrelated to video games, and they will use the exact same controllers as last time aside from small, hastily tacked on touchscreens.

sony will probably keep pushing the playstation as an all in one home theater/multimedia/general entertainment device and microsoft will probably keep pushing their online capabilities and end up with a console that has a 70% failure rate. looking at sony and microsoft's history of console evolution, this is pretty much a sure thing.

I'm waiting to see how the PS4 and Xbox 720'll turn out, and what new features'll be introduced. I doubt they'll change my mind over getting just a Wii U, but from what I've seen from Sony's Vita, anything's possible.

I don't give a flying Baxter stockman about the XBOX 720, the PS4 you say? Don't really care that much either. I just can't seem to waste my time owning multipe next gen consoles, and there isn't 'one' Sony or MS exclusive that interests me, it would have to be certain capcom or konami exclusives that would catch my interest if that.

it's either Nintendo or nothing for me unless Sega magically re-entered the console race, which we all know will never happen.

And seriously, if Sony releases the same god damn dual shock they've been dishing out ever since the release of the Dual Shock on the PS1(with 'minor' tweaks along the way, whoopie!) with the same bloody look again i'm going to ralf in a monkey bucket. I mean seriously, nintendo comes out with a brand new looking and innovative controller(plus Console) every Generation. While sony keeps rehashing the same freakin controller....It's just playing it extremely safe with the whole 'if it aint broke don't fix it' routine. We'll most likely see the same designs with an added touch screen...sigh*

Can't count on Sony or MS to really shatter the world with any innovation, seems like Nintendo are the only ones to do it. The Wii U's little unveiling didn't tickle my Funky-man funny bones, but i'm sure they're blow us away this June. As for the Wii U design, it's actually playing it a tiny bit safe as well....Doesn't look too much different from the wii, and the Wii U controller looks like a Megafied Classic Controller with a screen plastered on it.
Hopefully the console design will see a radically different look, because as it is it's pretty uncreative, boring and too Wii-like.

they only change the controller when it's convenient to do (i.e., when someone else has already does the work for them). i doubt they ever stop and consider what their new console does and what sort of controls would work best for it. they released the playstation with a super nintendo controller without ever thinking that it might not translate well to polygonal 3D games. they updated it with analogs after the n64 controller paved the way and since then the only major change was adding an accelerometer, which was a pointless addition to help compete with the wii. so yeah, a half-***ed touchscreen sounds just about right for the next model.

i don't think nintendo's going to redesign the wii u's look because it's not too important to them. they barely even showed the console at e3, it was all about the controller. plus, looking like the wii is not a bad thing considering all the casuals who picked a wii up without even knowing it was a nintendo system. they're less likely to buy wii u if they can't recognize it as a wii system. i personally don't care, as long as it's not as ugly as the 360 the look of the console doesn't matter too much.

The PSP only had strong sales in Japan because of RPGs and games like Monster Hunter. The Vita already has Uncharted, that alone will be a system seller over here. Then there's shooters like DUST 514 and Resistance...really, if you ask me, the Vita is going to and was always meant to be more successful in the west than in Japan.

Sony and Microsoft are neither stupid nor suicidal. Considering the enormous headaches their respective problems caused I don't see either happening

The 'original' PS1 controller before the Dualshock reared it's ugly head I'll admit i really liked. Even though it was basically an SNES controller with handles with 2 more shoulder buttons. It looked cool and it felt great in the hands, but next genning it up and being innovative? Nope. Then came the N64 controller along with Super Mario 64....It showcased some brilliant subtle movements, precision and how a true 3D game with a massive 3D world should play. It was just groundbreaking...

So then Sony comes out with the DualShock controller....Now I ended up getting it during it's release, actually one of those rarer white ones(might of been a japanese version) and right off the bat i thought it felt awful....The Rumble definitly had more of a kick to it, but the analog sticks were horribly loose....None of the games that supported dual analog had that amazing Mario 64 precision...even if they did, the sticks were too loose to even pull certain monouvers off and the placement felt a bit akward in comparison since it was taking 2nd place to the D-pad.

And remember how amazing and next gen looking the dreamcast was during it's release? IT was ahead of it's time, but eventually met it's doom because of the crazy hype surrounding the PS2....and the fact that it had a DVD player got more than the typical gamer extremely interested. The PS2 didn't feel next gen or new at all....I felt like i was playing the PS1 with a lick of new paint graphically speaking and the launch line up was just depressing. The Dreamcast not only looked and felt next gen, but it's launch schooled the PS2's i in every single way...I mean the Dreamcast had so much potential and i'm just still dissapointed to see that Sega got trumped by a bloody TV company. Maybe if the dreamcast had a built in DVD and never botched their NA Saturn release OR released the Sega CD and 32X....Unproffesional decisions.

Anyways, yup...Touch screen controls will probably be the norm this upcoming gen. yay.
As long as i can play first or 3rd person titles with the Wii remote plus/Nunchuck combo I'll be happy. Because the Wii U Controller seems to have gone in a different yet unique direction YET it's hindering certain genres that the Wii remote does so amazingly well with. If there ever were a metroid prime 4 for ex, there's no way i'd resort to on analog stick for aiming on the Wii U Controller.........It would be like taking a massive back seat in the immersion factor just for some unique touch screen control goodies and gryo controls. Same deal with Zelda, i want to feel like I'm holding a sword and swinging it 1:1, not resorting back to buttons or touch screen controls with the Wii U controller. Trade off's it tis!

the people writing the 720/PS4. off as graphics ma hinds need to look at recent trends. Mircosoft has been positioning the xbox as their Tv brand and with media centers and trying too rule the television the big tech battle this year it will be cool.

games wont be the most important thing at launch. it will coke down to services.like the xbox fios and stuff like themsn or a soups app. the 2nd most important thing at launch is ecosystem. I know when o buy a new xbox or the new playstation all the stuff i bought and all my account info will transfer over. nintendo has yet too show that off with their systems on a big way.
