Topic: DS Remaster Series?

Hey guys, you know what Sony is doing with the PSP Remaster series? Well, what if Nintendo did the same for Wii U? The TV would be the top screen and the controller would be the bottom screen, since it has a touch screen. What do you think?

I want new games instead of a bunch of remakes.

Well most games announced so far were new. (Exept the Arkham City port)

The problem is that DS games wouldn't look so hot in HD.

To redo a DS game to look adequate in HD, you'd be looking at a development cost that would be comparable to a new game. Not worth the time.

But Sony's already done that with the PS2 HD remakes. If it's not worth it, then why did Sony do it?

Have you played any of those HD remakes? The work to HD them isn't nearly as substantial as what needs to be done to bring a DS game into HD.

PSP already kinda has near PlayStation 2 graphics, so the PSP could handle it. You're talking about taking handheld games and expanding them to console which has never really been done before to my knowledge. Sony did the opposite. Compressing a format is 1 thing, and doesn't always look right, but expanding a handheld format, I kinda have to agree that they wouldn't look quite right. Have you ever taken some original gameBoy titles and played them on the Super GameBoy cartridge for Super Nintendo ,or even GameBoy Player for GameCube, and noticed some minor things you wouldn't have back then? That's probably what the results would be like.

Eh, I feel like the DS games I actually would want would still feel better to play on DS.

I'm sorry, but the only thing that I can think of when I hear "DS Remaster Series" is this;

Maybe some sort of DS player would be ok, but I'm not wanting to buy DS games twice just to play it on the big screen....

Yeah, that Crystal Chronicles game really did show how bad DS games look blown up to TV size.

And HDing them would be even worse. You'd end up looking at very, very sharp triangles and crystal-clear colour masses meant to represent grass on the ground.

Hell, people complain about how DS games look on the 3DS, with the (relative) tiny amount those are blown up.

For a DS game to be remastered, it'd have to have a new visual engine built almost from scratch. That entirely defeats the point of a quick and easy port.

I hear you there, but then Nintendo would have to stop counting all the money that the world has given them for a series of remakes!
