Game quality wise in general I'd recommend PS4 and Wii U. I don't know if the Xbox One will receive many exclusives that the PS4 won't get (plus it's $100 more)

My point was that both are probablty better systems for RPGs an games in general for the next year. I would probably recommend both the PS4 and Xbox One to people before the Wii U.
Quantity I would go with PS4 or Xbox One.
Quality I would go with Wii U. I still think Nintendo has some of the highest development standards which makes their games higher quality.
Wii U will get a few RPGs but for the most part they will probably be better than other system's RPGs
I'm honestly gonna 2nd this, especially with Atlus still working with the PS3, so why would a JRPG fan even get a Ps4 for that reason?

$100 more hasn't stopped it from selling so far. (The big portion of the market buying games doesn't care, the $600 PS3 was a big deal back in the day, but consumer electronics becoming a bigger market has changed things.
Not to pick on your post but you do realize that your point against the Xbox One is just as equally valid agasin't the PS4, and the same argument means you absolutly can't recommend the Wii U.

I think his argument is that the Xbox One probably won't have many exclusive RPGs, kinda like how the 360 only had Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and Tales of Vesperia. And Vesperia made it to PS3 in Japan. The $100 extra was the reason why he recommended the Wii U of PS4 out of those 3.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Well I was talking RPGs in General, since the market has clearly shifted away from JRPGS as a big seller. With that said if were going with RPGs I wouldn't recommend any 8th gen system, instead telling them to go with a PS3 or 3DS.

First of all, in my post I never even talked about the Wii U in that point. Secondly, the Xbox One is selling because of the 360 fanboys. Once that slows down, the PS4 will easily outsell it, and I bet the $100 difference is one big reason.
Also, PS4 will be the place to go for JRPGs. Japan doesn't really give a crap about Xbox except for a few studios like Square Enix.
You didn't the Wii U in that Point. Logic dictates that if you can't recommend the Xbox One over potential PS4 exclusives than the WIi U should be persona non Grata seeing as there is a ton more games that are exclusives the first two that won't be coming to the Wii U. You can't use that rule for system and have the Wii U be an expectation.
I don't know man I work in retail and I've sold at least 100 Xboxes in the Past two weeks and with both it and the PS4 only a few of the customers could be considered Fanboys or even know about gaming enough to care. Plus we've been hearing rumors of a $100 price drop as we get closer to the middle of next year.
I never disagreed that the PS4 wouldn't be the Haven for JRPGs. But that itself is still remained to be seen. I think the PS4 will get the most out of the three but this is the first time where Japan is going through a Major paradigm shift during the start of a console cycle.

I doubt Square Enix will be publishing any Dragon Quest games in the West for quite a while (judging by the fact that we haven't seen their last 6 releases). If Nintendo publishes them, then maybe - but there's still no telling when it'd happen.
Well Sqaure did wait to release Bravley default so we could see some DQ action. The side games won't come but the RPG's probably would.
The key would be to A) support Square as much as possible on Nintendo platforms and B) keep talking about porting this game. If you can create enough buzz and Square can be "successful" on Nintendo then you will probably get it.

if you want an RPG console PS4 and even Xbox One will be the way to go.
SMT x FE and X is all we need and knowning Nintendo owns monolith soft now means we will probably see another jrpg by them in the consoles last year and 3 awesome jrpgs that the wii got in it's final few years gives me hope as well that Wii U will be just as good as the ps3 is for jrpgs well who am I kidding it could never be as good as the ps3 for jrpgs but I'm sure it will have great jrpgs just like the ps3...
I don't think so but if we do see DQX released here it would most likely be because it was brought here by Nintendo (Uhm kind of like Ninja Gaiden 3, and W101 was)
I am a wild and free Ninetails not a trainer.. get over it...

I excluded the Wii U because it's different from the other two in terms of power and gameplay. A price difference alone wouldn't make that much of a difference. The Xbox One and PS4 are essentially the same hardware wise.

3DS or PS3 would definitely be the best choices for RPGs. The 3 RPGs on my radar right now are Bravely Default (3DS), Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (PS3) and 'X' (Wii U).
Who knows if even ONE Dragon Quest game will come to the west. NA hasn't gotten a DQ game since Joker 2 and that was 2 years ago. I don't know about EU, though. Sorry. I'm a huge DQ fan, but SE needs to at least think about it.
