When the Wii U was the only 8th gen machine I get the feeling a lot of people had the thought: 'I'll wait until the far superior PS an XB are released', and they did. and the graphical stuff was a bit better than the Wii U but AS OF YET (note this is in bold) the Wii U has better games. Far more better games. You could say that what is selling more Wii U's than anything is the lack variety and quality of games of the other systems. So I don't think the fact Wii U sold 7m in 2 years can be compared to 5m (or less?) XB1's in only 1 year- a lot of people who wrote off the Wii U in the first year now own one, but only after seeing that the competiton isn't so stellar after all.

If the Xb1 was getting an exclusive experience equal to MK8 or Smash this year it would be selling far more- but it isn't, and probably never will.

Also what's more confusing- the difference between a Wii and Wii U or the difference between Gamestop and Gamespot? I always thought they were the same company.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

I disagree. I think Nintendo still has a huge console following. The situation is that gamers are choosing Xbox and PS for whatever reasons they have, not that Nintendo is irrelevant. Wii U isn't a handheld console, regardless of ANY opinion otherwise.

Umm...doesn't the fact that gamers are choosing PS4 or Xbone over the Wii U prove that it is irrelevant to the majority of gamers?

Only "core" fans have bought any of these consoles, for the most part, so not really. Do I think alot of PS fans have bought the PS4? Yes, but PS gamers are not the only gamers, whether you think so or not.

Wii U even has more software sales than either, and still has a bigger install base than Xbox One. The software attach ratio of Wii U is factual proof that people are playing more games on Wii U, despite lower console sales.

A head Sony guy is actually AFRAID that all they are only selling to is the "core" gamer.

They have no clue why people are buying PS4 this much.
Xbox One has just as many 3rd party games and has had just as much advertising.

Sigh. The Wii U has sold close to 7 million in two years, the Xbox One has sold 5 million in less than a year. Looking at it like that do you really think The Wii U has an advantage? Both consoles (PS4 One) will eclipse them in software and hardware sales in years to come. That software attachment proves people are buying more games, not playing them. Do you really expect me to believe that 10 million owners consist solely of PS fans who would buy PS4s in less than a year, and not at launch? That's nonsense.

First of all, assumptions will get you nowhere with the idea that PS4 and Xbox One are going to sell more by default. It doesn't work that way, and we all know "core" fans are the ones buying these consoles within the first year or so. This might come as a surprise(sarcasm), but not everyone can even afford a Wii U immediately, even though they are Nintendo fans. Do you really think 80+ million PS3 owners AREN'T PS fans? That could just as equally be nonsense, so think about what you're saying for a minute. If that 80+ million PS3 owners aren't even remotely interested in PS at all, then Sony is in trouble.

Also, do you really think people are buying games for them to just sit around? What are you smoking? People buy games to play them. What a shock!

Lastly, the timeframe in which this has all happened doesn't really matter all that much. The point is that Wii U has a good number of consoles for the time being. Wii U was at 4 million consoles when Xbox and PS launched, without nearly as much NOTABLE 3rd party support that Xbox One and PS4 received for their respective launch. The only sensible logic that could have been had, was that Wii U would sell more once new games came out. The Wii U has sold around 3 million consoles without as much 3rd party support. If you put 2 and 2 together, that's not all that bad, especially when you see companies like Ubisoft saying they're going to cash grab and appeal to all those Nintendo system owners that are buying Wii U for Nintendo games. They will be riding whatever Nintendo can sell by themselves.

Your right selling more doesn't happen by default, I know that. But I know why it's going to sell more and you've just partly answered it for me. You've also answered why the Wii To Wii U adoption is why Ninty is in trouble with Wii U, not PS3 to PS4. Until PS4 gets to drastic levels, I won't believe in conspiracy theories.

Bolded: Equally nonsense? You're saying both sides are nonsense? Okay no need for a counter. Bolded 2: roughly 1.6 yrs at 7 million versus 10 months at 5 million, yeah it's definitely not bad and the timeframe does indeed matter. Software attachment shows people buying the games, doesn't mean every single one of them is playing it (resold, borrowed or on a break).

WTF are you talking about? I was generalizing the interest of these consoles. Wii has like 110+ million and PS3 has 85+ million consoles out there. The same logic would apply to both; not just Wii U.

It depends on how you look at the timeframe. Wii U has factually never had as much 3rd party support as PS4 and Xbox One have, so they never had that as selling point. Xbox One actually only has 2 million more consoles than Wii U did around this time of the year, and that's only based on Microsoft's shipped count. Xbox One isn't really beating Wii U all that bad, because Wii U had 4 million last November and it has climbed 3 million since Xbox One and PS4 have been out.

Now lets look at the PS4. 10 million in 10 months with most of the same 3rd party games as Xbox One, just as much advertising as Xbox One, actually has less media than Xbox One. You seriously don't think PS fans are buying PS4 consoles, with those points taken into consideration? All the signs are there. Early Wii owners going from that to PS4, but not Wii U, is damn pipe dream Sony made up as their market, because they know that's where alot of money is at, but it ain't happening, dude.

You'd have to be ignorant to think PS4 is appealing to a Wii only crowd, because that crowd is far more likely to go to Wii U in the first place, which came out 1 year prior. Figure it out.

If you insist. All I'm saying it that alot of the logic behind PS4's success and Sony pushing the notion that PS4 is appealing to early Wii owners just doesn't add up.

Yeah, I don't really find that data to be reliable. If I'm not mistaken, many gamers last gen had another system like PS3/Wii, etc.

You can only find Nintendo's style of gaming on their platforms. Yoshi's Wolly World... a game that's almost destined to be reviewed highly.... is only on Wii U. Same goes for Xenoblade Chronicles X, Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros. U, Captain Toad, etc. Wii U interest is increasing. The console is far from dead. I don't know how a Xbox One only user or even a PS4 only user could be fine with just that one console. Same goes for Wii U only users. Its best to own more than one.

What Nintendo should be doing, in my opinion, is try capture the Japanese market with games they just can't resist and catering to the Wii U fanbase who actually has diverse tastes in gaming. So far, Nintendo has been trying to create high quality exclusives which is good.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Even if it's a secondary console, Wii U will have some sales for Nintendo. I don't get why it has to be #1 in order to succeed...

Guys let me break the truth to you, these guy in suits don't care if they come first or not. There will not be a shiny trophy if you win the console race. In the end of the day it is always all about profitability.

Also honestly, if you cannot afford 2 consoles... you have better things to worry about rather than fumbling yourself over which console is better. Just saying.

If you're on a limited budget, now is a great time to buy a PS4 or XB1. With only 1-2 interesting games coming out per year on both, you don't have to worry about overspending.

The Wii U, however, is going to destroy your wallet.
