Just read ONMs review of DKCTF, they gave it 86 out of 100 so off to a good start even if to me it sounded like a 90+ to me.
What did they say were the negative aspects?
Sorry for taking so long to reply wasn't home all day yesterday, here is their verdict section:
+Wonderfully touchy-feely style
+Beautiful to look at, better to listen to
-Old ideas feel like a safety blanket
conclusion: "Retro's starting to pull the same trick it managed for Metroid-Tropical Freeze draws on decades-old ideas and punches them into excellent new shapes."
5 reasons way I'm not getting Tropical Freeze:
1 - Putting my money on Indie games strongly supporting Wii U
2 - Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy NA release
3 - No reason for using the Gamepad at all
4 - Retro is better than this / more risk on Metroid Prime sequels than this
5 - I don't see a challenge in this
Out of curiosity how would you use the game-pad in a 2d platformer that didn't feel gimicky? Other than that i agree with your points, i too would rather a new prime game than this. But hey this sells better and is almost a perfect platformer, i love me some DK country

1. This game is strongly supporting the Wii U, more so than multiple indies. As of right now, it's been one of the best sellers on Amazon.
2. K.
3. I understand that you would like this here, but why force something in if it's not necessary to fully enjoy the game?
4. They're better than this? Maybe, I guess? I haven't played this game but if it's anywhere near as good as DKCR then I have to disagree. It's not like they aren't working on another game as we speak.
5. Have you played Donkey Kong Country Returns? I really like hard games and that game had some good challenges in it dude. Especially the levels you unlock when you get the KONG letters. It's a great game. I expect no less from this game. Retro is amazing at what they do, you pretty much said it yourself.
Note: I only played DKCR without the lame nun-chuk skake to roll mechanic (3DS Version). I thought it was a great game and one of the best platformers I had played in a while. Much better than any of the 2D Mario games and certain levels had me trying over and over to beat them. It's challenging. This is coming from someone who likes really hard games. If you like Retro, I don't know why you wouldn't at least give this a shot.
I can't tell if you're trying to get people to convince you to buy the game or not.
3 - No reason for using the Gamepad at all
4 - Retro is better than this / more risk on Metroid Prime sequels than this
5 - I don't see a challenge in this
3 - Why does a 2D platformer need to use the gamepad apart from off-screen play.
4 - A more valid point would be Retro making an original ip not making a 4th Metroid Prime game.
5 - The DKC series is way more challenging the the Prime series and has more creativity per game.
Edit: I honestly think you're only here to annoy and troll people.
