You've all seen the latest Nintendo Direct, and you all know that Nintendo has decided to remake windwaker for WiiU in HD (even if it doesn't really suite HD).
Now while Iwata stated that there will be a 3ds Nintendo direct in the near future, I somehow doubt we'll see a remake of Majora's Mask any time soon. The reason for my doubt is simple, why would Nintendo work on three Zelda Titles at once(even if it would be remade by an external dev, such as Grezzo)? While I'd love to be proven horribly, ridiculously wrong about this, I just don't see it happening. But what are your thoughts on this, was it a hopeless dream, or does it still have a chance?

FS:AE? I'm having trouble deciphering that name, but I hope you're right.

Not really, the fact they're remaking The Wind Waker for the Wii U doesn't stop them also remaking Majora's Mask for the 3DS.

Okay, now that my fanboy rage has quelled, I think this thread is obsolete.

It's important to know that both OoT 3D and FS:AE were developed by Grezzo, not Nintendo. If Nintendo wants a remake of Majora's Mask, they can hand that job off to Grezzo, while Nintendo works on the new Zelda.

They've already confirmed a new 3DS Zelda in the works, as well as the new Wii U one, and we now know they're making Wind Waker HD. There's 3 Zelda's at once already. The question would be if there's Majora's Mask as a fourth, which I unfortunately feel is unlikely, at least until WW HD comes out. Maybe they'll take it up then, us MM fans can only hope.

True. We don't know what Grezzo is up to these days, do we? There's always the possibility they have a surprise brewing.

Yes, remember that there is still a 3DS focused ND to be had (as I've said several times already on several threads...).

Avian fact of the week: The Moa, an extinct relative of ostrichs and emus that inhabited New Zealand, was the tallest bird that ever lived at 12 ft tall (3.6 m). It was also the only known bird to have no wing structure.

I'm still not convinced that these "operations" have any effect on what games will come out. Sales of WW HD and OoT 3D are more likely to lead to them remaking MM, which they said was a possibility but they haven't confirmed whether they will or not.

If Nintendo was going to make a game, they would of their own accord, if they feel it is the right time to do so. I still think its very possible that they will remake MM, just not right away.

I think the petitions and other support that the MML3 movement was getting is proof that its not enough to push for something like that, although I will admit there's very different circumstances there. That "operation" had more support than a lot of games that were actually released, and that was for a game that had been worked on for quite a while, had quite a bit of money put into it and then was cancelled. The MM remake probably is still something that's being talked about, nothing more at the moment.

EDIT: don't get me wrong, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker are tied for the coveted role of my favorite Zelda game ever, and I've been a Zelda fan since I was a little kid. I just don't want to get my own hopes up for something if its not coming out.

I learned from MML3 (a game I was looking forward to more than any game in 2011) that you just have to be realistic about these things. Just wait until something official comes out.

If Ocarina hadn't already been 3D'ed I'd have said no chance. But they seem to understand now that they need a steady flow of software, Ocarina sold very well and, having already done the donkey work with the engine in Ocarina, one would assume that it wouldn't take as long for Grezzo to develop Majora's 3D.
The only reasons not to would be 1) Grezzo are too busy working on something else, and 2) They want to avoid oversaturating the franchise or taking the focus away from a new 3DS Zelda game. I still see MM3D happening, but perhaps after the new 3DS entry. Or maybe to accompany Wii U Zelda - if the tauted 'new direction' angers series stalwarts, Nintendo can point them towards the 'classic' 3D Zelda available on the 3DS.

Well I personally don't think it's too far off, why not? Well Nintendo has been surprising me more and more in the past couple of days, its HAILING good software left and right and Wii U dev seems to make progress as well, enhancing the experience. Maybe Nintendo really got out of their caves and change things up a bit. Still don't forget that they put their hardware devisions together of 3ds and Wii U, so maybe that is an indication for... whatever. I personally don't see anything bad about remastering great games since not everyone was able to experience them in the first place and I don't think it's too much effort involved compared to starting a brand new game from the ground up, so as long as they software keeps flowin' keep it goin'.

If everything is under control, you're not going fast enough...

Exactly guys. Like I said, there's a really good indication that this game could come out, just not at the moment. I'm not of the sort that thinks you can nag a game company to produce a game that you want, it has to be the right time for it.

I'm happy that they're doing an HD Wind Waker (though I was hoping for a Wind Waker 3DS), and I'm excited for the prospect of this eventual Zelda 3DS that people are talking about (which for all we know could be a MM remake). Let's just look forward to all the good game's that are to come out this year.

Could Capcom work on another Zelda? I know people despise tham these days but they didn't do a bad job beforehand. Or maybe another dev?

The problem with WW3DS would be no real graphical updates.
And the 3DS Zelda will be a LttP sequel, if Miyamoto gets his way, which he usually does.
