Topic: Does anyone actually think Zelda bosses are good/fun?

I've seen quite a few "top Zelda bosses" lists recently, and I started thinking about which ones were my favorites. Then i realized that most of them weren't memorable, or good at all, and a lot of the ones that were left were just ok... Their designs, and placement in dungeons are what made them the "top" for me. When I think about games like Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, Pikmin, and other games, they just seem less interesting. They need to be more memorable, interesting, actually difficult, and take at least some time to beat, also not be immediatly obvious how to beat them. I think this is kind of a big thing that they need to fix in future installments of the series. What do you guys think?
BTW my favorites are (not in order):
Gyorg
Majora
koloktos
Phantom Ganon
Bongo Bongo
Puppet Ganon
Stallord

In all honestly, the boss fights are pretty much my favorite parts of the Legend of Zelda games.

It's hard not to make the bosses simple to figure out, especially when they usually revolve around the item found in the dungeons. This could possibly change though in the Wii U Zelda though since they are changing it up. As far as favorite bosses go, a couple of them were actually in Skyward Sword. The giant flying whale, Koloktos, Pyroclastic Fiend, and Girahim. That's one thing I really loved about the game, most of the fights actually felt pretty epic when compared to some of the games mentioned. Dark Souls/Demon Souls being one of my favorite series ever. They just make boss fights brutally punishing where if you get hit, there's a good chance you'll die in 1 or 2 more. You do have to use different tactics though and they do feel pretty unpredictable.

I played Wind Waker for my first time on the Wii U and the only boss that stumped me for a minute was the puppet part of Ganon. I felt really dumb after that, too. Zelda games are good at making me feel dumb. I think Majora's Mask has some really good bosses.. and Minish Cap, just because it was cool to shrink down and fight regular monsters as huge beasts. None of the other Zelda games have any bosses that really pop into my head as of right now. You made a pretty good list.

yea and no. some are really fun but there are some that are just too easy and I hated every single one in Skyward Sword(but that's just because of my old wii remote that acts up and bugs the nunchuck if I swing too hard)

The 3D Zelda games all have pretty solid bosses, and so do the DS Zeldas. Say what you want, but the DS Zelda games usually had some clever and fun bosses.

Especially Malladus. This was one of the greatest Zelda bosses ever, in my opinion.

Yeah. It's a puzzle figuring out what to do to them and it's great.

I hated Gyorg, but he's easy if you spam the Zora shield. Like... I died a million times, looked it up on GameFaqs and found this out, then won the fight in about thirty seconds.

I like the bosses for the most part, but some aren't so great.

Two that stand out for me are the final boss of Ocarina (duh) and that Stalfos fight in Twilight Princess.

You know, I actually forgot about Spirit Tracks completely. That game did have some pretty fun fights, maybe just because they were different from the typical Zelda games. I never played Phantom Hourglass but I thoroughly enjoyed Spirit Tracks. Only reason I never played PH is because I hear it's so much easier than Spirit Tracks and that the controls are pretty shoddy in comparison.

I must be terrible because I had a hard time defending against all those bolts doing the spin attack. I actually died in that fight. It took me a minute to get that spin attack down but once I did, I was good. I really liked that final boss fight though, despite it's strange appearance and the somewhat corny train theme. It was perfect for the game.

The defend sequence was mediocre, but I still liked it. And the microphone controls are pretty weak, but the main battle was sweet. I'd say it more than made up for those two not perfect parts.

They are a big part of why you like the games. They're basically gameplay showcases.

I personally like playing Zelda for the adventure and exploration, IDK I find the bosses to be meh, you're just gonna use whatever item you get in that dungeon to fight the boss and IDK what's with zelda and playing volleyball with spheres of light but I guess >_>
The adventure itself is cool and there's always a reason to explore the land of hyrule which is what I like about Zelda.

I like the assumption that people don't like the bosses they say they like because of your opinion.

They're often way too easy and simple to figure out in later games but I still like Kirby bosses so I don't consider that a "problem".

I enjoy some of them, even some that are easy. (House of Gales boss in ALBW, I just like how it sounded before it started spinning everywhere, don't ask. xD) Molgera I love simply because of the music, even though he just sits there half-the time waving his tongue around. Koloktos is just awesome in general, lol

Boss memorability is kinda hit or miss, but it's kinda like that for any series I've played, though.

I will say I love Vaati in Minish Cap, though. That was probably the best final boss fight I've ever experienced in any Zelda game. It's the only one that I'm aware of where you had to use pretty much everything in your arsenal at one point or another (heck, even the lantern got some use during that fight, the freakin' lantern!).

Other memorable final Zelda bosses include Nightmare from Link's Awakening (another versatile one in terms of items used, but not quite as good as Vaati since it's mostly copying past bosses), Onyx from Oracle of Seasons (not a lot of versatility here, but it's one heck of a duel, and probably the most difficult final boss in the series that I've played), Ganondorf in Twilight Princess (not very difficult, but they hit the nail on the head when it comes to epicness), and Bellum from Phantom Hourglass (the ship battle & sword duel justify the whole thing).

As for regular bosses, I like the Helmasaur King (ALttP), Anganhim (ALttP), Volvagia (OoT), Twinrova (OoT), Argorok (TP), and Phantom Ganon (OoT). There's more, but I can't remember Their names off the top of my head.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Girahim will always be my favorite, along with the other SS bosses due to the theatrics. Actually seeing them with full cutscenes made them very memorable.

I enjoy Zelda boss battles, Skyward Sword is particular it was the only time where I really appreciated the motion controls, like boxing in Wii Sports.

I liked all the bosses in Skyward Sword, besides the one from the mountain.

Molgera was probably one of the best.

I was fine with most of the bosses, in TP, except the first one, and Zant.

Minish Cap had good bosses.

Some of them were pretty easy, but it was still fun, IMO.

EDIT: Also, as much as liked OoT, and Majora's Mask, those probably had the most primitive bosses. The dungeons themselves were harder than than the boss, so I didn't really like them all that much. The other Zelda games were pretty primitive, but I don't mind primitive bosses in older 2D Zelda games.

I couldn't get into the DS Zeldas, so I never even played them.

Yes I do, but the boss battles in Zelda Link's awakening and the oracle series weren't, there dungeons were good though. Boss battles in 3D Zelda games is always the best and one of my favorite would be Twilight Argarok from Twilight Princess and Goht from Majoras Mask.
