Buying Rare back would be a complete waste of Nintendos money.

Who says that they were better off with Nintendo then MS? The must be doing pretty good if they are still around.

Are you serious? The quality of rare's games have completely gone down the toilet after being with microsoft. The last console rare game on nintendo was star fox adventures. Which was about an 8.0. The first rare game for microsoft was grabbed by the ghoulies. A 4.0 at best, easily their worse game to date. I believe that if rare had stayed with nintendo, they would still be great today.

How can you say that? We honestly don't know if Rare had stayed with Nintendo they would be great today. People leave companies new people come in with new ideas etc. As I said before the Rare now is different then the Rare of yesterday. Who can say if those people who did leave Rare after MS bought them out they would have stayed. Honestly I think when it comes to Rare people just dont want to remove the rose tinted glasses.

I recall someone from Rare speculating that they might have, since most of the reason the old Rare crew left in the first place was they were uncomfortable with how Microsoft handled things. I think it was due to Microsoft being too hands on or something, where as Nintendo mostly left them to their own devices.

A lot of people seem to forget that its not the same Rare, although the same goes for Atari and probably all the other long-time companies. Nintendo would be better off trying to get a hold of Rare's IP and maybe trying to find their old staff. They might even be able to convince Grant Kirkhope to help since he did say he was open to the idea of a last hurrah. Too bad Cryteck bought Free Radical, since thats where most of the Rare staff went.

Western companies at least, although I think there's generally more people moving between the US companies than the European.

Grant is doing the music to Hex Heroes now. And David Wise made the music to Tropical Freeze, so some old Rare skills get to the Wii U now as well.

Nothing related to mergers and acquisitions will be mentioned at e3 unless they buy a gaming company. They are more likely to be investing the money in other things like Love Testers and B2B Leasing.

I only posted this to get my avatar as the forum's thumbnail.

Plus Chris Seavor is bringing Rusty Pup to Wii U/3DS.

They're not getting Rare. Plain and simple.

And no, this is not something to announce at e3. This is more for an investors' meeting

To be fair E3 does a bit of both. It's to show the average consumer what's coming out in the next few months, or with Nintendo, what's coming out next year. But it also shows investors what the company has been working on.

Also, is Nintendo actually having an E3 presentation this year? I assume so, since Nintendo shouldn't be overshadowed by Sony and Microsoft this time around... Well they will, just not by the huge margin that they would have been last year.

We should find out very soon. They announced last year on April 24th about their conference

No, it really isn't. E3 is all about getting the press on side so they can get consumers excited about their upcoming products. As soon as they start showing stuffs about acquisitions, mergers or sales charts people tune out. So no, this won't happen at E3............ unless it ties in with something material, like a new game or control of a big franchise.

E3 worthy: "Hey guys, we got Rockstar. GTA V is headed to Wii U and GTA VI will be an exclusive"
Not E3 worthy: [i]"Hey guys, we got Irrational Games. Nothing to show yet"

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

I do remember Nintendo putting sales charts in there at one point, can't remember when though... they also showed the diversity between male and female gamers and age ranges and all that stuff.

I never said that they would put this kind of stuff into E3, it makes no sense, it's primarily to build up hype around certain games, hardware etc. but it also shows the press and investors what they've been working on, so they can actually see it for what it is and see the audiences reaction, which you don't get in an investors meeting... a fan, or presses, reaction to certain news.

They did, and then they followed up with a cheezy montage. I think it was E3 2008? Yeah, I remember it not going down too well at all

Yeah, I remember it being handled by that woman that left... whatever her name is. I think that was the most boring E3 from Nintendo I had ever seen...

Oh god. I remember E3 2008. It was indeed terrible. But that's because nintendo had just released mario kart wii and smash bros brawl a few months prior. So they didn't have anything note worthy to show at that E3. It was pretty dumb of them. That's the year that they should have skipped. Not last year,

Actually, Iwata said nothing about mergers and acquisitions of game studios. That's 100% conjecture on your part.

For all we know, they're not looking at game studios at all, but even if they were, they're not going to go after 3rd parties like Sega or Capcom. Both companies deliver a steady steam of content to Wii U and 3DS. Buying either company would be a waste of resources. You don't buy the cow when you get the milk for free. It would also restrict Sega and Capcom in what they can actually develop. You think that just because Nintendo buys Capcom that you would get a Devil May Cry game on Wii U? Very unlikely.

If they were going to acquire game studios, they would either go for small indie studios like Level-5, Wayforward, or Next Level. They may also internalize 2nd parties like GameFreak, Camelot, and Platinum, but that also doesn't seem likely.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

New Nintendo console for E3 2014! Get hyped!!! Probably nothing...

"I videogiocatori sono sempre alla ricerca di scoop o di qualche leak su giochi o console nuove, e dopo avervi appena dato la notizia della presenza di Nintendo all'E3 ecco che subito iniziano a circolare le prime voci di corridoio. Cercando nel codice sorgente della pagina di e3.Nintendo.com, i ragazzi di Neogaf hanno scovato una stringa interessante, che riporta la dicitura "New Nintendo System"."

Finally, we're going to get the Wii Wii--the true successor to the Wii.

Yeah, it's part of the "non-wearable" health technology that is not confined to the living room that Iwata has alluded too.
