Topic: Do you think the Wii U will get third party Game Pads?

Today, I thought up a very interesting point, if there will be third party Game Pads. Obviously, every single home console since the NES has had third party controllers, but the Wii U may be an exception to this trend. Since the Wii U has so many new features, which would be very expensive to copy, let alone make, do you think hardware developers will even bother?

I personally think they will find ways, but these won't come up for at least two years after the console's launch.

Meh, maybe a few; but we'll probably see more third party WiiU Pro controllers.

Maybe.
Third parties love making cheaper models for every controller, but the Wii U GamePad is getting a bit technical and also not many people are likely to purchase additional GamePads and if they do it'll be one at the most meaning there wouldn't even be much of a market for it so I don't see the point in them bothering.

I really couldn't care though, and I'd much rather fork out the extra money to get the proper branded model.
I'm not going to buy a fairly expensive controller that's just going to break on me or something.
I highly doubt I'll bother buying a second GamePad ever anyway unless something happens to the one that comes with my system.

Probably, yeah. What features are you talking about that would be hard to copy?

I could see Nyko doing this. If they make Gamepads that are actually okay in quality and not too high in price, I might actually buy one, but I don't really see the point.

Hmm...not real sure. If I see any though, I will not be getting any third party controllers again, especially after me and several people I know going through multiple third party GC controllers in years past....I'm looking at you Pelican...

It's very possible that there will be 3rd party gamepads. Especially since the Wii U is capable of interacting with up to 2 gamepads, so down the road it will be sold on its own. Although, noone really needs to. When has a third party controller ever been better than a Nintendo controller? There might be people who prefer a third party controller's layout, but Nintendo's controllers are always so durable (but not invincible).

Probably not the WiiU is like a handheld with alot of features no nobody is going to try to make there own gamepad. it's more trouble then it's worth.

I doubt the Wii U pad is much more complex than an off brand Android tablet that you can pick up for under $100.

@The_Fox
Even less complicated given it has no processor but still a hell of a lot more complex than a traditional controller. The thing has a screen, a camera and a whole range of sensors and I/O well beyond what a traditional controller has.

I'm leaning towards the "more trouble than it's worth" argument here but who knows. Stranger things have happened.
