I just wonder what types of games Nintendo will make for the system since the standard controller they now have for it is something that hasn't been standard for a Nintendo system since Gamecube.
I actually like this thing for one stupid reason. PS360 ports. When or If a developer decides to simply port over a good PS360 multiplatform game to Wii U, they can just use this so they don't have to fret over the Wii U GamePad's touchscreen. Imagine...Skyrim on a Nintendo console.
I'm probably going to get this controller the second they announce it. AND LOOK! THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS ON THE BOTTOM! FOUR PLAYER GAMES! Probably going to be essential for Super Smash Bros. U.
Successful it won't be a virtual boy failure. Probably successful in that it will outsell the Gamecube and N64.
I think it's probably going to hit 360/PS3 numbers lifetime. Maybe a bit less because it will have a smaller life-cycle than the other two. Maybe significantly less if the 720 and PS4 blow it out of the water. But I don't think they will. Maybe if they tighten up their game design philosophies for their core IP, it might "win" next generation by offering enough to the 360/PS3 gamer to be their secondary console. As for if this is enough for it to win the console generation, can't say without seeing what the 720 and PS4 have to offer. Heck, I'm not even sure they'll be on the same generational wavelengths anymore. Could be another two or three years until either of them come out, which is nearly half of the regular Nintendo console life cycle.

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. If recent history is anything to go by, the company that preempts their competitors in console launch is the one that comes out on top (PS2, DS, 3DS). The exception to that rule was the 360 and mostly because there really wasn't any market for it in Japan (a major market).
They should be more concerned about which markets to target right now considering the recovering economy. Markets that are actually growing should be more focused on since they'll have more disposable income. Perhaps they should put more effort into China?
Nintendo should also think carefully about the price they put out for the console. I'm pretty sure they won't make the same pricing error as the 3DS but there is a difference between selling decent and selling well.
I can't wait for this, I hope we do get more ports for us hardcore Nintendo fans, as well as our normal exclusives, I'd like to see UMvC3 on wii U, as well as MGS4, Bayonetta, maybe some Monster hunter (though I suck at what I've played so far)

I never said everyone is going to buy 10 games in one go. The maths is still irrefutable - the total cost of the Wii U will be higher if you buy the same amount of stuff on it.
