Well from what analysts say there's at least 20 million Nintendo fanboys that are going to get the Wii U no matter what. Anything that sells after that well IDK.

It will be at enough of a success that Nintendo won't drop out of the console race or anything. Even if they do get third place, they'll still be successful enough to keep going, like with the gamecube.

I really don't know anymore. Like even with my flawed guesses for...anything....even compared to those guesses, I don't know anymore. As far as I'm concerned it could either be the best selling game console of all time by a huge margin, or it could cause Nintendo to be considered increasingly irrelevent like they were in the early 2000s. Or anything in between.
But, if you had me at gunpoint and forced me to guess, I would say...a less extreme version of Wii's sales. As in, not as a huge mainstream success during the earlier years, but also without declining in popularity nearly as much. Probably gonna be a close race for 1st between them and either 720 or PS4 (3rd place will be entirely based on whichever one is released later btw)

Successful it won't be a virtual boy failure. Probably successful in that it will outsell the Gamecube and N64.
I think it's probably going to hit 360/PS3 numbers lifetime. Maybe a bit less because it will have a smaller life-cycle than the other two. Maybe significantly less if the 720 and PS4 blow it out of the water. But I don't think they will. Maybe if they tighten up their game design philosophies for their core IP, it might "win" next generation by offering enough to the 360/PS3 gamer to be their secondary console. As for if this is enough for it to win the console generation, can't say without seeing what the 720 and PS4 have to offer. Heck, I'm not even sure they'll be on the same generational wavelengths anymore. Could be another two or three years until either of them come out, which is nearly half of the regular Nintendo console life cycle.
