In six months? No.

Maybe. If it's a massive breakout success right from the start they will, and they've got a better initial launch line up than the 3DS did, so its not impossible.

I think a lot of them hitting their goal will come down to if they can meet demand. They will stay sold out, but I'm not sure they can get the shelves continually stocked.

Good pre-order numbers?

Of course you can tell me those numbers can't you.

250,000 Gamestop customers are on the waiting list. That means people aren't on it as well. That pretty big for launch, and that's a single store.
When factoring places like Walmart, Target, Amazon, and more into the mix, it looks like there are some pretty impressive numbers.

You can catch it at the third to the last paragraph on the 2nd page.

This is true. But if they don't sell significantly more than that, the amount of preorders means nothing.

At the very least, it shows demand. That demand can certainly increase as the system comes out. Nintendo's goal definitely seems attainable right now in my eyes, at least based on the evidence. I don't know if they'll make it, but it doesn't look like they're reaching for something crazy.

If I recall correctly both the 3DS and the Vita had some pretty impressive preorder numbers and then struggled to keep sales up after release. What's really going to matter are the post holiday sales.

It may be difficult to speculate until after we have seen the launch. ZombiU is gaining quite a bit of momentum. Even IGN has said his is a game changer. Still, six months is outside of the E3 conference so it is a tough be. There is supposedly a game out there that will sell systems that has not been announced. A blurb came up last week on Nintendo Everything that an IGN staffer had mentioned it. Maybe they are holding back for the VGA's.

I'd very much like them to hit 5.5 million by the end of March, and though I personally wouldn't put money on them actually reaching that goal, I still think it'll sell very well. Plus it's always better for people to say "they're being overgenerous and they'll never hit that target" than "oh my GOD why are they giving such a low estimate for hardware sales life is over".

I think hitting that number really depends on how much the Wii U gets out and about. As much as most of us here are looking for a core experience, I think Nintendo is really banking on casual picking this up. The GamePad certainly has enough of the novelty factor, and Nintendo Land is a great game to sell, so who knows, maybe they might just do it.

I hope they do, and I've noticed not only $20 cards but $35 and $50 this'll make adding funds easier and this is also for 3DS as well, so next time I go to pick up a points card for Art Academy, I won't have to spend $40 on a $30 game
