Topic: Do you think NFP can be a game changer for Wii U?

I honestly believe that, if executed right, Nintendo's figurine platform that make Wii U sales skyrocket. Look at the success of Skylanders and Disney Infinity, both of which required expensive peripherals. Now Nintendo is putting out an NFC platform that is nearly as iconic as Disney's characters, and will be applicable across multiple games. I feel like NFP could actually make the Gamepad seem relevant, and dramatically increase the demand for the system.

Not really. I don't think it'll do much for the WiiU to be honest.

I can see it being successful but it wont have the impact of Skylanders due to Skylanders already being out, it's a shame Ninty never bought it when they had the chance.

hard to say since we really know basically nothing about the NFP platform yet other than it has figures and uses NFC.

I guess there is going to be some type of a game ("Nintendo U"?) as well as functions in other games on 3ds and wii u as well.

Yes it can... but will it?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.

It's always possible. NFC overall has the potentiol to become more popular. That's why Nintendo included it in the first place.

Nintendo could release alot of other gadgets/products that utilize it, not just figurines.

As long as the prices for the gadgets/figurines are not ridiculous, my wallet is ready.

Unlike Hy8ogen my wallet was mugged, killed and then looted by passersby so I couldn't afford afford it even if Nintendo pulled it off.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

I hope so. They are the only figures I'll buy (probably buy them all except pokemon).
I have no interest in the skylanders and disney ones.

It might be difficult to break into but I think Skylanders, DI and Nintendo's figurines can co-exist and all be successful. (And for what it's worth the Nintendo ones are the only ones that might make me buy crap like this )

I think Nintendo has the upper hand by wanting to make their figures work with more than just 1 game series

Yes it very well could. It's a joke that nintendo haven't made a nfc game yet, even though it was a highlight feature of the wii u during e3 2012.

Maybe. If they REALLY push it hard, than I can totally see that. Especially with it being apparently relevant to games beyond whatever the main NFP game is gonna be, so people have an reason beyond a single game series to care about it.

also despite Pokemon Rumble U being a complete joke with zero marketing, it's still one of the most popular games on the eShop.

It can be a nice piece, but it is going to take more than any one item. They need this, Zelda U, Starfox, F-Zero, etc. Essentially they need to start hitting on all cylinders.

It'll probably make a nice bit of money for Nintendo, but it's going to do zilch to address the console's main problems.

Depends on how deeply it's implemented. If it's tied into Smash Bros, Animal Crossing and maybe even Kart via a patch it could be pretty huge. And by tied I mean it'd unlock some cosmetic things like a piece of furniture in Animal Crossing, a Kart part in Mario Kart or a custom costume in Smash. Or even further where a particular character when purchased unlocks a VC game.

If it's just a Skylanders type thing then..... probably not as much....

Just please keep this stuff away from Smash Bros.

Why do people say this. We have no idea how it will be used in Smash Bros.

It's just like the people who say Nintendo hates Youtubers because of the Affiliate program that has absolutely zero details announced for it.
