@shaneoh: Possibly.

I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.

Not only possibly. The reason because this Nintendo individual kindly reveals it to a YouTuber (with a very low amount of subscribers) is that Iwata's death made Nintendo employees desperate to share information about the NX, because the company will not share it?

Sounds fake, I really don't see Star Fox keeping its April release date.

And when it all turns out to be false, everyone has already forgotten about the so-called absolute proof. That's the problem with rumours, people only remember the small percent that was actually leaked. Nobody ever remembers the made up stuff.

Anyway, my uncle works at Nintendo and he's working on F-Zero, but since Nintendo doesn't want to reveal the project, he has given me all the details on game. Please subscribe for more info!

Based on Liam Robertson's personal speculations or something else? I think the Star Fox Zero kept release date was one of the more reasonable things in that video (in addition to the stuff that's already announced, such as a Nintendo-specific update to Minecraft). Such as yesterday, a Star Fox Zero pre-order model of the Arwing was announced for Peru, with the April 22 date.

@jariw: The fact it's already the end of February and EU doesn't have a release date, just the generic "April" release. That is suspicious, just like the fact FE Fates is already out in NA but only has generic "2016" release for EU. I'm thinking both could end up being post-E3 games. The info Liam Robertson found just makes it more likely rather than being the main evidence.

Well, I get what OP is saying, but realistically, it seems the NX release this year is not going to be a home console, so I think we're going to get another year with the Wii U. And with that year, the Wii U will have been around for, what... 4 years? 5 years? That's pretty much the length of time one of my gaming rigs lasts, so I view that as an acceptable lifespan.

Anyone who is going to get involved in technology needs to accept the fact that things get replaced. Quickly. Smart phone enthusiasts (NOT me, ha!) have pretty much subscribed to a yearly cycle, and those puppies can cost upwards of 300$. So I don't view the move to NX as any kind of snub by Nintendo - it just view it as Nintendo being smart and realizing they stumbled a bit and need to correct course so that they can continue to EXIST for their fans.

$300? Try $600+ for some of those pointless upgrades.

I do agree that 4 years is not a quick replacement.

Most people do not upgrade their phones every year and rarely do customers actually pay the price for the phones in one lump sum. Normally you pay for your phone as part of your service plan. That is something consoles don't do. So I don't think that comparison is that great. How often do people replace their TVs or DVD players? I feel like a lot of people don't want to have to hook up things to their TV that often.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

@DefHalan: You can get a payment plan from most retailers nowadays, so I don't really see how that is relevant. And some people do buy their phones with a service plan without having a payment plan because it's usually cheeper.

@AlliMeadow: I don't know any retailers that offer payment plans on new consoles, mostly it is just put it on the credit cards and pay that off slowly. With phones it is different. Phones are also backwards compatible, so if consoles are going to start being replaced quickly, like phones, then they will need to be backwards compatible

What does that have to do with the Wii U? At least a smart phone does similar things to a console. A TV is a darn screen. There's not nearly the same amount going on there. And you thought my smart phone example wasn't valid... I will never understand you, man.

Anyway, as has been said countless times, it's looking likely that the Wii U is going to be with us for another year until a home console launches. If that is true, we will have had the Wii U for 5 years. That is NOT too quick of a turnaround. It would be the same amount of time as the Gamecube and the N64 and the SNES and the NES. All of those systems had 5 years until their successor was launched (North America).

So... again, facts. Some people don't enjoy them, but for anyone thinking this is some kind of unprecedented turnaround time that we should be up in arms about... no.

@rallydefault: I think most of the complaints regarding the lifespan of the Wii U is based on the assumption that its successor will be released this year. If that is disproved and the Wii U successor is released late 2017 then the complaints will be gone as 5 years is standard for consoles in general if you exclude last gen.

@rallydefault: Just because a phone has similar functions to a console, does not mean people are willing to upgrade their console as often as their smart phone. People want something they can purchase and kinda forget about, just leaving it plugged in. That is where comparing a console lifespan to the rest of your entertainment system lifespan came from.

It is a separate Mario franchise compared to Galaxy 1-2, 64, and sunshine. It is not a replacement.

3D world you can play with a Dpad.

So.. Skyward Sword is a separate Zelda franchise because the game used motion controls?

No Link still doesn't jump and he still uses Z targeting extensively and it is a full 3D Zelda game.

Are you seriously arguing that 3D World and 3D Land are proper sequels to the Galaxy Games? You might as well argue that Other M is a sequel to the Prime Trilogy or that Super Mario World 2 is a proper 2D Mario Game.

I won (with the help of the Paper Mario game), but it wasn't with much...

@YellowFighter Sticker Star's sales were similar to the Zelda 3DS games.

@YellowFighter Well of course it won't but nothing would as Nintendo announcing NX for March 2017 back in April 2016 pretty much doomed every single Wii U game released around or after that announcement. So:

  • Star Fox Zero
  • Star Fox Guard
  • Mario & Sonic 2016
  • Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
  • Paper Mario Color Splash
  • Wii U version of BotW
