As a side note there are only three non-Nintendo games in the top 25 selling games of all time. GTA:SA on the PS2, Kinect Adventures on the 360 and GTA:VC on the PS2.
Which list is this, and can you provide a link to it? I was under the impression that games like The Sims (which sell far more on PC than consoles), Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy 7 appeared in the top 25 selling games of all time, even though it is still predominately made up of Nintendo games.
VGChartz. Looking at Wikipedia though I think you're right about The Sims, the first two Sims should probably just squeeze in there but for some reason VGChartz doesn't have them. Well it's there but it has a much lower number of units, maybe Wikipedia counts expansions or something similar. No idea.
That said if you look at Wikipedia's page on this it looks pretty much the same. Maybe with The Sims or the original Sonic fighting over the 25th spot with Vice City. Nothing that alters the point I was making in that post. That it's not just the "dedicated Nintendo fans" buying Nintendo's games when they do well.
[edit]
oh and GT sells well but not enough to get into the top 25. It's an arbitrary cutoff engineered to make the point better but it's still interesting. FF7 is well behind on this list.... very good but sub 10mill units...
@dumedum I wouldn't know about the Wii U version of Arkham City, finished it on PC already (and loved most of it) and didn't want to buy it again as it would mean playing through Harley Quinn's revenge again (the part that I hated).
Yeah that is a bunch of idiots changing things around, not providing any evidence, but as long as the info has a relevant and reliable source then it is a valid source of info. You would be a fool to use it and not verify the sources.
I have friends (yes it's true...) who really like Nintendo and think Nintendo is awesome, but the thought of getting a Wii U instead of a PS4 or XBox One I don't think would really cross their minds. I think for a lot of modern gamers the Playstation and Xbox consoles are considered the proper home consoles and Nintendo is now the novelty curio. This is only with home consoles of course, with handhelds Nintendo is very much considered the king, but with home consoles they're now maybe considered more the court jester.
I don't think there's a lot of dislike for Nintendo out there, but I think for a lot of modern gamers Nintendo making home consoles in 2013 is perhaps seen by them as a bit of an anachronism.

I think most of the dislike come with the fact that people like Nintendo games but don't like rtheir home consoles (handhelds is a different matter)., people want to play Nintendo games but don't want to buy two consoles or to give up on playing third party games, therefore they hate on Nintendo for releasing consoles that third party developers don't want to develop for.
And not one of them could give me a valid answer, "all that's on it is mario games"
They have a valid point that Nintendo is the primary developer, and the Wii U doesn't have much 3rd party support. If they'd rather have a more powerful console with 3rd party support, they have a reason to go with a PS4/Xbone.
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
I currently dislike nintendo on the basis that they came late to the game and still fumbled. I feel that they should be championing indie support more as well as leading the way in how to make online games for their own system.

I think a lot of it has to do with ignorance. People are ignorant about what kind of ethics a company like Nintendo has, what kind of games Nintendo does and has always done and most of all they have no idea why they are having fun with a game or why they find it boring. It's because of their ignorance that they usually can't make an opinion of their own and have to "go with the flow". This creates some bizarre scenarios. Like when I hear people complaining for the lack of online multiplayer in Rhythm Heaven/Beat the Beat - that's just misunderstanding videogames as a form of entertainment. And obviously like most ignorant, these gamers think they know better (and are so bloody loud).
Of course I can't blame videogamers for their ignorance. Most of the modern audience spent his/her formative years playing Sony or Microsoft like I spent my youth playing Sega and Nintendo. I'm glad the Wii had such a broad young audience because these kids in 10 years will be young men and women understanding Nintendo and craving for Nintendo content.
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

Once we got to Nintendo Land, the neighbors actually came over to check that everything was okay because they thought that people were being tortured in my house.
Being forced to play Nintendo Land actually does sound like torture to me.
"The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion."
comparing one of my favorite Zelda titles (despite its blatant fanservice) to PLEASE GIVE US MONEY WE HAVE MARIO annoys me
It's interesting how when it's a franchise we like, more of the same is called "fan service" and we enjoy the familiarity, and if it's a franchise we don't like it's "unoriginal" and just a cash grab.

I have played my copy of NintendoLand once. I'd rather be waterboarded (or play Other M) than be subjected to that game again.
I'm not even going to bother saying that Nintendo isn't helping itself when it comes to the whole kiddie image since that's been done to death (though it is true to some extent).
Instead, I believe the gaming media has some hand in this. Think about it, many gaming websites just love ripping on anything Nintendo related, and that's all the average gamer will see online; is that Nintendo is to be laughed at and avoided even though they've never actually tried Nintendo games for themselves. To prove my point, just look at the examples on this very thread of people who thought the Wii U was stupid before truly playing firsthand and liking it.

But third parties for whatever reason are too lame to support the console. They were even too lame to support the Wii.
The reason that most third-party developers skipped the Wii in favor of PS3/360 is simply that those platforms had a much more clearly defined audience and it was much, much easier to turn a profit. The Wii demographics, on the other hand, were as broad as possible, and while I think the Wii is a good system, a lot of people who bought one were casuals who only played the "Fun Nintendo games", and/or had their system for social occasions and let it collect dust otherwise. Unfortunately, it could require geniuses to sell games on the platform. The problem with the U right now is a very, very small install base and the lack of success for third party developers from it's predecessor.
All true, plus the fact that Smash Bros. is a great game and the clone is, well, a crappy clone.
No offense, but, No. PS All-Stars is actually a very high-quality game in the league of Smash Bros., and I expect that if they keep at the quality, it could easily rival it.

Wow... I'm genuinely surprised...
I won't forget you once Smash U comes out, 8BitSamurai. We'll need to battle it out online on the game once it's released: I hope you've played Smash since the first one on the N64.
