Topic: DLC question?

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm borrowing Mario Kart 8 from a friend with the intention of buying it when he asks for it back, and I was going to buy the new DLC for it. So I'd be using his disc for it. Will this cause any problems when he asks for it back and I buy a new copy? Thanks for any help you folks can offer.

Just wait with the DLC since it won't be released until November anyway, for safety too.

I always believed the DLC is downloaded to the system, but I may be wrong.

I'm pretty sure the Wii U doesn't write data to discs. But still, I don't know if the DLC will be ignored if you have a different disc or download it.

All you're borrowing is the disc with the base game on it - everything else is stored on your own Wii U console. You'll be able to download and install the Version 2.0 update, and you'll also be able to buy and download whichever add-on content you want for the game. It'll all still be there when you get your own copy of the game, and your friend's copy won't be affected in the slightest.

Hope that helps!

The DLC is registered to your NNID account on the system itself. It's the same with your save file. Put in any MK8 disc and your Wii U will treat them all the same. If you want the DLC, have at it.

Thanks everyone.

Yeah, they just have the warning because they don't want people buying DLC thinking it's the game or playable on its own (though I'm not sure how you could make that mistake).
