A couple of times recently I have booted up a game and the console got hung up on the splash screen of the game. I know on the Wii sometimes it would load the splash screen but then an error message would pop up if the console had trouble reading the disc. Does the Wii U not have these error messages?
It is annoying to be sitting there thinking my game is booting normally only to realize it has been way too long and the system is actually locked up (can't access home menu and have to press and hold power button on the console itself in order to reset)
Is my console just starting to act weird or is this normal behavior when you maybe have some fingerprints on a disc?
It's the disc, the same thing happened to me when I tried booting up some used games I bought from GameStop a few months ago. Try wiping down your disc and see if it helps.
Yeah wiping the disc does seem to fix the issue. These are my newest games with no scratches, just some fingerprints. I just find it odd that it just hangs and doesn't throw an error message or anything.
A common thing I've had is that if the Wii U is at an angle, maybe something stuck under one of the corners or something, then it'll often fail to read the disc.
