I'm a retail kind of person, i'll buy things if they're available digital only but if it has a physical option I'll always go with that. Love having them on the shelf.

Has anyone any examples of where one or the other is broken when the other one isn't.

My digital copy of Tropical Freeze stutters on the load screen dunno if the physical one does. (Doesn't affect the game at all).

@unrandomsam My physical copy does the same thing, I think it just has to do with the fact the games loading, reminds me of Rayman Origins loading screen in that aspect since it stutters as well.

This topic has been discussed to no end, but here it goes...

I usually but digital, because more times than not, I buy when the game first comes out, so there aren't any special deals, and midnight releases happen at 10:30 p.m. in my time zone. Sometimes there are really good deals, I don't have to worry about losing or damaging a physical copy, the convenience of having everything on the HDD is good, I don't have to carry discs or cases anywhere(whcih I would be doing alot if I had discs), I don't have to go anywhereand sometimes there is a benefit from having the game on an HDD, like faster load times or freeze prevention. Everyone lese says they like filling up their shelf, but I like filling up my app screen

I have been really tempted to buy more physical games, recently, because of things like buy one get one deals and such, but it isn't very often. I generally buy digital on all my consoles, but I did buy a few games for Wii U that aren't available on the eShop, like Mass Effect 3, CoD, and I never bothered getting a digital version of Nntendo Land, because I got it in the Deluxe bundle.

Why would you have to carry Wii U games around? There isn't really anywhere for them to go, besides in your Wii U itself. Unless you're moving your Wii U around often, which would mean you've confused a home console with a handheld.

I bring it to whoever's house I'm going to. Like, if I'm going to my cousin's house, I'll pack everything up into my Wii U bag that I got from Best Buy, including my ext. HDD. Otherwise, I'd be carrying around 10+ games in my bag. My HDD has 14 full retail games, then a handful of VC and eShop only games. I do still carry around Nintendo Land and CoD, but it's easier to carry 2 Wii U games, intsead of like 18. I could get a disc portfolio, but I need an HDD for eShop games anyway, so it's just all a big convenience to have it all on the HDD for me.

The 32GB in the Wii U would be full, even if didn't have any retail games on it.

@ scar, i'm the same way. as i mentioned i take mine to my gf's. it fits pretty well in my backpack that i used for my dell and even has enough room for my current lap top. it's a fairly portable system. i've been lazy and been playing a lot of my indie games and just playing mk8

Digital. I haven't bought a Wii U physical game since Disney Infinity launched (a year ago. Digital is just way easier. Especially when you have the 2TB hard drive to store all of it in. And now, I even prefer my gifts from relatives to be download codes.
I travel to my friend's house every few weeks. Heck, I'm at my friend's right now. One time, I remember bringing 6-8 Game boxes there, stuffing my backpack. Yeah, I know there are alternate methods for bring disks, like CD cases. But truly the best method is to store it in your compact hard drive. I find it worth the $70 to know I don't have to haul cases of games, I don't have to worry about disks being unable to read, and I don't have to deal with organizing Wii U disks like I always had with my Wii and Gamecube disks.
I truly keep no nostalgia for my boxes, they're just cases of uneeded space with art I can easily get myself online to me.

Yes, and considering that VC games used to be cartridges... Just imagine actually carrying around all those cartridges and discs with you. Once you start filling up your HDD, everything is right there. I just hope they at least update the Wii U to let you go to home menu without closing software(like 3DS). It saves alot of time by pressing home, looking at the bottom screen for whatever, then doing something else. I'm pretty sure they'll end up having an update that does that, with a variety of other things, like folders. There's technically alot more you can do with a digital file, content wise, because it isn't restrained to your disc anymore and leaves other optons open for memory access.

Like on my Xbox 360, I used to play audio CDs while my digital game was running. I can't run an audio CD if the freaking game disc is in there That was only because I was burning CDs and didn't have an MP3 player, though.

Retail, it's cheaper.

Digital. I generally only buy retail these days if it is something I plan on selling eventually or if the price is so inflated on the eShop that it is silly to pay extra for the privilege of purchasing digitally.

Retail is consistently cheaper, and gives more control over the content I buy. There are trade-offs with either method but anytime I can get more for less that's a compelling argument. So yeah... retail is the huge winner for me.

I do buy some digital games... but it's rare and pretty much only happens if:
(a) sale pricing is ridiculously cheap compared to retail (pretty much never happens),
(b) storage space isn't an issue and I'm extremely confident that I will never want to part with the game, or
(c) there is no other option and I really want to play the game.
