Topic: Darksiders 2 - On-Disc Bonus Items

I know, im much much too late for the party. I picked that game up at a bargain sale yesterday (didnt play it before) and am wondering:

You can pick up a bunch of bonus items right from the get go at the first green glowing horse statue (i think they are called foliants). If im correct, these are the on-disc DLC items you had to pay for extra on other consoles.
I picked them up as soon as i saw them and...they are kind of rubbish. They arent any better than the stuff i picked up during the prolog.
Do these weapons scale with your character level, meining that picking them up much much later would make them more useful ? Im kinda hesitant to continue playing now, since it would be a waste of a bunch of items and i could easily start over and not pick them up right away.

Yeah, as far as I can remember, I thought you couldn't use the majority of them yet. You gotta be a higher lvl, so I would suggest not to pick them up indeed.

The whole weapons system really put me off to the point I stopped playing the game, still haven't finished it. Too many weapons, "Ah, is this one better?" "let me look through the most disorganised weapon menu ever, to check it out". Just give me a new good weapon gradually throughout the game, instead of making me into an accountant or whatever. Sigh, lol Have fun!

@Longforgotten Yeah, thats basicly why i never picked that game up until now I loved Darksiders 1s approach, it felt more like a Zelda game where every Item you get has a meaning and a purpose and isnt just replaced in a minute or two. But for a 5er...ive made worse purchases
And thanks for your quick reply, much appreciated. Im starting over and leave that stuff be till the end / post game.

I loved Darksiders 2 but i agree the UI was dumb as rocks. Also FYI the best weapons are always the reaper ones as you can put lots of life stealing and never need to worry again.

The only problem that i have so far is, that lock on and skill shortcuts are both mapped to the left shoulder buttons. Usually, i just use my left indes figer to use them, but using mit left middle finger for ZL and my index finger for L is a bit... odd
And "reaper" equipment ? I keep an eye on that, thanks

I paid full price, but yeah, the price you paid is definitely worth it. Hell, I paid €15 for AC 3, and that's the only game I really regret paying for. Even at that price, but that's me I guess.

I actually quite liked Darksider 2, especially the earlier segments. The first couple of dungeons were very nice and I agree with the review from NL, that the second half lost a bit of consistency. I stopped playing somewhere after the part where the action took form as a shooter, yes, very akward indeed.

Aside from that and the annoying list of weapons, I had just 1 more complaint, the difficulty settings. I think I started off with medium(normal), but after the 2nd dungeon, I realized there was no thrill of being hit, I just couldn't die, way too easy. So I started over, with what I thought was called hard, and that felt at times, a bit too hard, so I wasn't really pleased

But yeah, overall, very nice I think, I will probably play the game after some time and finish it, because I don't like to not finish a game. So again, have fun, I am interested to see what you make of it.

wow. reading what einherjar and longforgotten have posted makes me smile. I know with confidence that I am better at video games than most. there was absolutely nothing wrong with the UI. simple as Apple pie to follow. Distinguishing which weapon to use just took a moment of thought, nothing more. collecting the variety of weapon drops was enticing. this is one of the main reasons I loved the game, and you were turned off by it? ugh. embarrassing.

@Sugarshack I never played the Wii U version, but on the PC the UI was so bad you could actually not navigate through parts of it unless you had a controller as the key bindings would switch depending on where you were.

On a somewhat unrelated note with the revival of this topic, it makes me sad that Nintendo did not snag Vigil. Could you imagine a Darksiders 3 overseen by the people who also make zelda? It would literally be the mature version of Zelda.
