There's no doubt that Dark Souls is a highly anticipated game for 2014. There was no announcement of the game ever coming out for Wii U in the media, which is pretty awful because this will likely be an experience for the hardcore gamer, knowing how infamous the Souls franchise is for being difficult.
When an executive from "From Software" was asked by EDGE if Dark Souls would ever go to Wii U, he flat-out said no. When asked why he bursted in in laughter. He said that it never came up in discussion. This is because they think the Wii U's audience is far different from the Dark Souls audience.
Would you ever buy Dark Souls or Dark Souls 2 for Wii U? Do you think the executives is right? Please comment. Your opinions are anticipated. http://www.edge-online.com/features/dark-souls-producer-says-...
Dark Souls is a fantastic game through and through and deserves all the attention its been garnering.
You couldn't pay me to play it again, though, and I'm not touching Dark Souls 2.
As for the audience discussion, considering how Nintendo lends itself to lower-difficulty games, and Nintendo fans lead towards Nintendo games, I can see where he's coming from.
I would, I will be purchasing it for PC most likely but i find it funny considering the same people who purchase the Wii U also like Monster Hunter which is arguably where this genera has derived from with Dark Souls just being the hardest.

I wouldn't bother with this game on Wii U. It will drop fast as always for other consoles. Also, even for other consoles and PC, this game is not bestseller. It is not even that great of a series.
As long as you don't rush through it and grind it to death, it's manageable.
I'd buy it day one. Unfortunately right now I don't own a PS3 or a Xbox 360, but I have put tons of hours on Demon and Dark Souls and it's actually one of, if not my favorite franchise. The way I used to play them in the past is my room mate had the PS3/Xbox and he'd always have the games so I just played his stuff. He moved out now.. so I'm probably going to be forced to get a PS3/Xbox if I want to play them. I have a Wii U and would have loved if DS2 was released on it.. same goes for South Park: Stick of Truth. That seems like something Ubisoft would have released on Wii U.. oh well. >_<

Dark Souls isn't really anything like Monster Hunter, though, gameplaywise.
People shouldn't be that surprised. Except for that one RPG they released for the Gamecube (the name of which escapes me) has From Software ever released anything for a Nintendo platform?
"The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion."
It doesn't exactly look like a bad game, but I'm faily certain that I wouldn't play it. I watched 20 minutes of gameplay and it didn't look that great. There's alot of weapon and strategy, but combat is slow and you shouldn't have to choose some options in the game through a menu.

Its the same concept/genera , just a different execution

Because a dude in heavy armor should totally be fast as lightning when he's swinging around his steel broadsword. Seriously, I think the word you're looking for is natural. <_<

Like what? Seriously, what? You can switch weapons on the fly, change your magic and your items all at the touch of a button, what could possibly benefit from not being in a menu?

You'll have to explain that one, seeing as one is an Action RPG with lite Rogue-like elements, while the other is an Action game with lite RPG elemnents. One is about learning from your mistakes through repeated death, and taking your time to cautiously progress through non-linear levels in a grand quest to learn the truth of the world. The other is about mastering an obtuse control system and getting stronger through collecting items obtain through various hunts through largely linear and static levels, mostly so you can fight bigger foes and make better armor from those foes.
I would really like to know where the similarities are.
@CanisWolfred
Maybe it was just the person playing, because they didn't look like they knew what they were doing. I like the environment, though. I can see why they wouldn't release this on Wii U.

Out of that whole list the only real difference you presented was setting and different levels of RPGness, the rest is really just semantics. Obviously they are different games but they are easily cut from the same cloth they simply just focus on different aspects. I am curious what you would compare Dark Souls to? It hardly fits any other game that well out there.

I would hardly call those semantics...as for what I would compare it to, the first thing that comes to mind would be King's Field, which Dark Souls borrows heavily from.

From what i can tell from the video i saw, it borrows exactly from the opposite end.of the spectrum being the atmosphere . You can see where the setting, pacing, and general feel of the game comes from but beyond that it runs dry. Seriously if you took Kingfield and it had a baby with Monster Hunter you would end up with Dark Souls.

Yeah, based on what I know of the combat of both series, it's pretty obvious there has to be some form of similar appeal between the 2 series since that's one of the main things people always talk about for both.
