No offense @Unca_LZ and @Tasuki, but people who think that way are the reason why crooked practices like this occur. It's clearly shady and underhanded considering the game was released on the eshop and thus was not breaking any street date, but the TC is the bad guy because he didn't check fine print?! You should be ashamed of yourselves.
@Tasuki Because, as you said, sometimes customers can be unreasonable so specific rules being in place can protect companies from crazy claims. This does not seem like one of those cases though.
That makes sense. Like if someone decides to get a lawyer and sue Nintendo for millions of dollars for not getting a free game then Nintendo's lawyers can point out then that is says at X time and he registered it at the wrong time.

It says on the first page of the promotion website.
Don't start blaming everyone else because you didn't bother to read.
It doesn't matter who is to blame. Let's say it's my fault. So what? If Nintendo starts blaming loyal customers for not reading the TIME a specific (digital) offer starts, I don't want to be a Nintendo customer anymore. Back with my PS3, I participated in some offers often days before they started (once even a day after it ended), and Sony ALWAYS handled it for me. Made similar experiences with other brands. Seriously, customer care is important to me, and I think this is at least a chance to see where Nintendo stands here.
Oh I love people like you who think that companies should jump at whatever demands you give them just because you pull that customer care card. Man if I worked for Nintendo now I would for sure not give you your free game because you screwed up. Use to love people like you when I was a manager of a store and they would expect me to bend the rules for them just because they are a customer.
People like you need to get over yourselves, we've all erred in ways like this before and it's reasonable to expect a favourable resolution given his clearly loyal patronage and the fact that the issue is over hours concerning a seemingly arbitrary start date. You would be a terrible person to deal with as it seems rather apparent you lack empathy, please don't get a job in customer service. His actions were in line with what the spirit of the promotion was attempting to encourage, early adoption and registration, so it's very reasonable for him to expect a favorable resolution. He literally did exactly what Nintendo wanted him to do, this makes this an issue of semantics and not principle, and given that it's absurd to take the rigid stance you and others have taken.
Actually I do work in customer service retail in fact, and I have been praised by several bosses in several companies on how I handle these situations. You can call me cold or heartless but in this day and age you can't give customers a break or an inch or whatever cause then they expect that to happen again and again. Just like the OP does.
And yes I have been in situations like this where I didn't read all the rules and I did have to take it up the rear but it was my own fault but you know what I had no one to blame but myself and it taught me to pay more attention and thoroughly read through things carefully.
Hearsay regarding your own personal experiences is not a rational or convincing reply. You must use logic and facts if your to convince me of your way of seeing things. I don't care what your "bosses" think as i don't know them or if they even exist. I have a background in philosophy and understand very much the overarching issues i'm speaking of, but that should mean nothing to you as it's not verifiable, the only thing you should value is a sound argument backed by logic and facts. Nobody cares if your lack of empathy has supposedly been commended by people who's opinion i may not value. You should be able to justify your position by using logic to defeat mine and back your own position up, not provide me with hearsay of irrelevant peoples apparent commendation of your actions. It truly means nothing to me. What's popular isn't always right and what's right isn't always popular, logic is wisdom and wisdom is truth.
10 AM? DAMMIT!!
I just assumed I could register it when I could download the game off of the eshop... I got the confirmation email and all though... Man, this really sucks.
I guess that teaches me to always read the fine print and never be excited for things like this.. >.<

That doesn't make any sense. If anything the reason these are put into place is because customers have pulled shady and underhanded things in the past and cost business, taxpayers and others millions and millions of dollars in fraudulent court cases.

Perhaps, but as the saying goes two wrongs don't make a right.
I think you are all being dreadfully unfair to Poki. You are acting like he's in the wrong - some going as far as to say that he 'broke the rules'! This attitude stinks and it needs to stop.
I am still 80% sure Nintendo will still provide the download code to early adopters. If I don't get mine, having registered on the 29th, of course I'm going to fight it. But I will accept the consequences if I don't win.
However, every advertisement for this has indicated May 30th as the start point to get the game. It is unreasonable for Nintendo to refuse service to people who register before 10am. This is sickening - it's almost as if it was designed to catch people out. Most people don't read T&Cs, especially when the parameters of a deal are so (supposedly) clearly laid out in advertising. I remain fully confident that Nintendo will honour purchases registered before the open date and time. At least those made on the 30th.
@Poki don't worry about this mate. I've always had good experiences with Nintendo in the past and I'm sure they wouldn't make such a petty decision as to demean their loyal, early purchasers.
Let me just say that if I did go a little overboard I do apologize for it. What just got me in the first place was the whole OP's attitude of oh if I dont get my way I will never buy Nintendo products again and I am a customer so the company should kiss my ***mentality.
I understand that the OP made a mistake and as I said I bet that Nintendo will give him his game without too much of a hassle. I do hope that he gets his game but he shouldn't expect to get it and if he doesn't get it he shouldn't hold Nintendo at fault. This is just a simple case of live and learn.
