The executive went on to comment that CryEngine 3, which has powered his company's latest efforts on the Crysis series, more than functions on Wii U. "It actually runs beautifully," said Yerli. He went on to note that while Crytek didn't have a business plan that justified development on Wii U, there is "a game in development from a respected developer that we will be announcing. I've seen the game running and it looks really great."

But then he goes on to say...
Concerns over Wii U's power have led many industry observers to question whether Nintendo's new system is even as powerful as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli doesn't share those concerns. In an interview with CVG, Yerli said Wii U is "minimum on par with the current generation."

What does he mean by Wii U is "minimum on par with the current generation?"

I'm a PC player but I'll always have a spot for Nintendo. I grew up as a child as a hardcore Nintendo fanboy and I still love their games. The Legend of Zelda still gives me the magic feeling I had when I was a kid. :)

No one but a few people use cryengi e unfortunately so its not as important as UE4 support Imo. That and crytech aren't working on any wii u games themselves.

That's for the Wii... xD

And
@Sony_70 I don't care about importance, I just want someone to tell me what he meant by that last quote.

That video is amazing.. lol

On topic, this is the same company that said the console version of Crysis looks beautiful as well. In reality, it doesn't look anything close to the original game. Crytek just likes to believe their engine runs beautifully on everything, so until they start making great looking Wii U games, I wouldn't put much thought into what they have to say.

Also, that quote just means that at the very least, the engine looks as good on Wii U as the PS3/360. Which isn't a monumental accomplishment hardware wise, considering those consoles were released six/seven years ago.

Someone told me it meant that the Wii U easily does minimally what the Xbox 360 and PS3 strain to do.

"He did say "on minimum par with the current gen" meaning that what the 360 and PS3 are pushing, the Wii U is easily handling."

Is he right? xD

If he's saying the Wii U can handle what the PS3 and Xbox 360 do on minimum I wonder what Wii U's maximum looks like, lol.

Look at Halo 4 and The Last of us to see what Wii H's Maximum would look like.

And you get that from where? I'm sure the Wii U will stomp on Halo 4 and The Last of Us (which btw looks almost just like Uncharted)

All I read was "series that's been dead since 2007 and great developer being forced to pander to "core gamers yo" to actually make games that make money". Even considering it was run on a high-end PC, I still would have used Watch Dogs as an example instead. Or Farcry 3 even.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 better be happening! In the meanwhile though, here's a fun little Let's Play of the original. Think you'll like the game if you like Zelda!

Whenever I think of Crytek, all I can think of is I don't care about anything they say unless "TimeSplitters" in involved. Or Crytek UK making any FPS for the Wii U.

Should have elborated more. By that compare launch 360/PS3 games to games to end of the gen games.

Considering we haven't seen a game yet that looks significantly better, or better at all, than any 360 or ps3 games, I think that is an unsafe assumption.

It's possible, but it's better off in the long run if people don't hype this thing to oblivion. Some of us have spectacular memory.

Yeah, I think Wii U is gonna pretty much pick up where ps3/360 leaves off, and then ps4/720 will likely pick up where Wii U leaves off. Graphically speaking, of course.
