Topic: Critics are very impressed with Super Mario 3D World

I noticed there was a forum thread for critics NOT being impressed with Call of Duty Ghosts, so this is kind of in response to that and just to show around the board how many different sources are loving this game. It is also to show that SM3DW isn't just SM3DL (3DS) brought to the Wii U. If you care to see all of the positive reviews you can check them out here: http://www.metacritic.com/game/wii-u/super-mario-3d-world
Many people couldn't give a rat's (well you know) about what critics say. That is completely fine, but if you are one of those people, me included that love to see what critics have to say about games before you buy them, then this thread is for you.

Well duh! What do you expect, its Mario!!!! When was the last time a critic gave a bad score for a Mario game with the exception of a few games like maybe Mario Party Advance and Mario Pinball Land?(Although these games were still good)

Nintendo and I should be proud of this because the Wii U now has a system seller that can improve the Wii U sales. As for the critics, A lot of gamers rely on them to find out if its a game worth getting or not.

Definitely can't wait for this like everyone else. Reviews generally don't sway me either way, but they're fun to read and it is nice that everyone is absolutely loving it.

@Artwark Yes as a whole Mario usually gets favorably good reviews, but these reviews blew my mind. I had no idea how many new things this Mario game brings to the table! And yes, lets hope that SM3DW sells systems this month!!!
Although I think with the stupid sudden inclusion of the Wii Mini, I think many buyers will be confused....

Can't Metacritic just die already?

Heh, at first glance it looked like 3d land's greatest hits collection just for a desperate bid to move sales quickly riding on 3d land success a-la NSMB2. Now it's the greatest mario game ever since the Galaxy games.
I can't wait to give this a whirl.

This is obviously one of the greatest Mario's games ever(aside form a few others), if not, the BEST game ever. Let's all give Nintendo a round of applause. This is going to be the best Christmas of my life!

I can only picture the headlines - SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD GETS GREAT RATINGS! THE WORLD SITS COMPLETELY NOT SURPRISED!

As with all Mario games it gets positive reviews. But still all this is good news. I just want to give it a go.

I am actually a bit surprised myself at the reviews. I always had faith in Mario, but I do know how there are SO many critics saying how "Nintendo's getting old" and need to "get with the times" and "Mario is out of ideas". Yet Mario still manages to overcome all of this and impress those very same critics!

This coupled with Mario Kart, Smash and Donkey Kong- hopefully ALL these get out by June. Gonna guess we don't see Smash Bros till August, like Pikmin was this year, if not later. I'll bet that all three of these games get similar reviews and will all sell systems.

I was surprised by the reception as well. I was thinking it'd get mostly 9 & 8. I'm really eager to play it for myself now.

Yeah, in the simulation of the future in my mind it was gonna be more like... "A good game but more of the same, it gets an 8 because it's Mario" for the critics.

Glad I was wrong!

Exactly my friend. I thought it was pretty much going to be an "Expansion type pack" for Super Mario 3D Land and so glad it isn't. Can't wait to play it!

This didn't surprise me too much. Guessed the reviews would be good from at least the second trailer. Heck, I pretty much figured this would happen from the start, they did give great scores to Mario 3D Land after all.

I'll be honest: I was darned surprised, but in a very good way. I'm still not quite sold on the game, myself, but it is encouraging to see the glowing reports.
