Topic: Crazy Idea: Legend of Korra by Nintendo :-)

While my love for the Avatar universe is evident from my profile pic, Nintendo (for many many reasons) should make something crazy to shake things up. Like a licensed Legend of Korra game with the show's writers and voice actors fully implemented.

If you're anything like me, your Super Nintendo VC wish list doesn't look all that different from your Wii U wish list. The games are all still fun, but that's still a problem. And if I were to skip the Wii U and get the Wii 3, I think my wish list would be mostly the same. Nintendo's last real meaty intellectual property was Pikmin which was to two console generations ago. It's all very sad in my opinion. Nintendo was quoted as recently saying that perhaps it's time for a new IP – you think!? How about a bunch of new IPs, how about a new crazy idea? Here's one right here: The Legend of Korra by Nintendo and Nick. Give me something to make me put down The Last of Us. That was a new IP that took hold of me in a way that Uncharted 4 never could. In the NES and SNES days I always had something new to experience.

One could say that Nintendo has plenty of properties to work on as it is, but in reality its playing it safe, its all going to homogenize the Nintendo experience if they don't start coming up with new interesting ideas. Things like New Super Mario Bros. or Yoshi's New Island should have never of received the green light. That's what the Virtual Console for. I'm not saying those games are not fun or anything, I'm just saying what if that was at the expense of a really interesting new game? Make Mario, Zelda, Metroid, ETC, but make them in new interesting ways or make new IPs. Don't just retread.

Nintendo says resources are limited in the high end voice acting / quality story heavy / internet connected / HD era (that you have been avoiding and are sorely out of practice with) and they're collaborating with outside studios more and more to get their same old IPs made. Great, now do new things. Take a crazy idea and run with it like a Legend of Korra game. This would be good for Nintendo in numerous ways. Having trouble creating a new IP with quality voice acting and writing? Borrow one to cut your teeth. Then used what you learned to make a new Legend of Zelda game that will blow me away and make me forget about my PS4 for a while.

Now I'm not saying that I don't enjoy Nintendo games as they are. There is something special about Nintendo's games - nobody, I mean nobody can do the things they can do. But I am confident in saying that Nintendo is not living up to Nintendo's own potential. And they have gotten mighty comfortable... time to think outside of the box. They could take down Giants of gaming if they did.

What do you want? Another round of Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Mario delivering pizza? Or Legend of freaking Korra?! How cool would that be?? How many consoles do you think that exclusive would sell alone??

No.
If an Avatar game should be on any platform, it should be on the new Kinect, if only because it could actually work with the hardware and not suck. I want to freaking water-bend with my actual body, darn it!

I agree with you that Nintendo has gotten a bit stale, but I don't know if making a licensed game is the way to go. If anything, I think they could just bite the bullet and make a new IP without having to start with Avatar.

But then you would have to trust Microsoft to make it lol! I am curious about how well the new connect will be, but the first one was a joke to me. That lag...

A third party could make it, you know...
Granted, I guess it would make the most sense for Microsoft to make it. I don't know if that's a bad thing, either. It's not like their games are bad, at least from what I've seen so far. Halo, Gears, Forza, heck, even Fable; all of them have been well-received.
And yeah, that lag is why I made sure to say it was the new Kinect. I tried out the old one, and that lag just turned me off.

I would rather see some VNs (Visual Novels) come to the 3DS than an Avatar game. But I guess an Avatar game wouldn't hurt, though I would much rather see them put there resources towards something else.

The 3DS is so awesome... I had to get it. So many great games. While my Wii U purchase is still awaiting Pikmin 3. I think the Wii U needs it more.

On a Wiiu? No thanks. On Xbox One? Yes please! It wouldn't make sense to have a Korra game where i press "X" to do this move and then rack up combos like Ninja Gaiden. I'd rather have a game where I use my body like a legit bender. I personally think playing on the WiiU would be boring.

Oh ok, I see, you want to do the moves for real... That would be cool if the tech really works on XBOX One. Or you could swish around the water on a Wii U gamepad too... It should be capacitive touch but whatever.

Not sure if I really want to flail my limbs around just to play a game. It's great for short doses but for a 40 hour experience I don't know...

Like Nintendo fans are one to talk. Did you forget all those "wiggle feast" games on the Wii.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

No many games in my collection go that far, skyward sword is prohaps the most physical, I've yet to really play that one.

There are very few games that go on for 40 hours at a normal playing rate
Anyway..it could be a cool minigame or something

I can't think of a single game that was based off of a movie or TV show and was GOOD
I played the Avatar game on my friend's PS2 back in fifth grade I think, and it was REPULSIVE.

TMNT: Turtles in Time and Batman Arkham Asylum were both good licensed games.

Errr, no. LoK wouldn't work as a game. Neither did the original Avatar game, I don't think. They usually just don't seem to fit the medium very well, most movie/show-based games don't. Also, I doubt that Nick (or Viacom, I don't know, whoever does the merchandising for Avatar) would want to make a video game about Korra. Apparently (and this very well could be wrong) they didn't make any toys of Korra, Katara, or Toph because they're girls, so I highly doubt they would think about making it. Also, if there was to be a Korra video game, I would easily see it on other platforms too, especially Kinect like others have said. I don't think it would make a difference in the Wii U's sales at all if one were to come out, even if it were exclusive to the Wii U.

It's mid evil superheroes with martial arts. With a great spiritual story. Spirits that act in puzzling ways. It screams action RPG. That's a game right there.

TV Show based games hardly work.. It's sad, but true. They are always poorly made and sell badly. Defiance and Spongebob were really the only TV show based games I felt made any impact on gaming and Defiance even got stale after a week of playing. Not saying your idea is bad, because i love everything avatar and Korra (besides the movie..), but it just doesn't seem likely to turn out well.

No. Nintendo has no experience making licensed games. They would not know how to do the series justice. The poor result would bring shame to Korra, bring shame to Nintendo, and bring shame to anybody gullible enough to purchase it.

As stated above, TV shows and movies rarely translate well into video games. Also stated above, Kinect would be much better for this idea, if they have to risk tainting the Korra name they could at least let players feel like a bender instead of just throwing them another generic licensed action RPG.

i'm guessing none of you have played Starwars for Kinect if you really want a korra game on X1. it was rubbish, and to be honest, waving your lightsaber and using the force wasnt fun. i imagine a korra game with bending would work the same way.
