I was gonna make a topic about this a while ago, but decided to wait until an official decision or statement was made.

And today it has, as I'm sure all of you know COD ghosts was confirmed for the Wii U, and this is great news

But why on earth did it take so long for us to find out ?

A while ago one of the top dogs at activision (I forgot his name) all but confirmed the existence of the wii u version of this game, and then a week or two later went back on his word saying that he doesn't even know if there is a wii u version coming.

I got one word for that............bullpoopiedoodles

There is no way you can tell me that they have only just decided to develop this game for the wii u, they had every intention of developing ghosts for the wii u and knew it from the get go. But the bit I don't get is what is the big secret ? why are we only just finding this out now ?

This is nothing new, every year, nintendo fans have to wait months for confirmation of a wii or wii u version of COD. Now if you remember back to the first statement that was made regarding the wii u version of ghosts, the dude even said something about PR stuff and not being able to disclose information about the wii u version or something.

Here's what I think happened, when he made that first statement, he let to much slip, got pulled in the office by his bosses, got told off, and had to make the second statement to set things straight.

BUT WHY ALL THIS EFFORT JUST TO HIDE THE FACT THAT A WII U VERSION IS IN DEVELOPMENT !! I don't get it ?

There is something going on, why not list the wii u in with the other platforms during the reveal ? The wii u needs that kind of publicity.

what do you guys think ?

I will explain you.

They knew they can port Call of Duty Ghosts to Wii U just fine (which costs $$$ btw), but they did not know are they gonna release it or not because previous COD was poor on sales with low number of online players.

I believe there was a pressure from Nintendo for Call of Duty Ghosts release because it would be disaster for Nintendo being left without Call of Duty. (EA disaster already happend, 2nd one would be killing blow)

Nintendo should understand that they must attract Non-Nintendo players who are buying Nintendo console only to play 3rd party games. If they think to attract Wii U players just for Nintendo games then they are DOOMED.

Well it's Nintendo who announced it not Activision (at least from what I've heard) which means obviously Nintendo had to do all the work on getting COD Ghosts on their system because they weren't going to get it anyways unless they did something about it. The only question left to ask is "is the Wii U version getting DLC and is it going to get the DLC in a timely manner?"

The simplest answer may be these companies are just unsure about Wii U's viability. If they believed there was a healthy profit to be made, they'd be tripping over themselves to push out Wii U games. No delays... no teeter totter statements. These companies have been around a long time, and I'm fairly certain they generally know how to read the economic pulse.

I knew the Wii U would be able to handle the game from the get go, that's why if Ubisoft releases the last gen versions of Splintercell Blacklist and Assassin's Creed IV, I'm not sure I'll buy them.
I kinda want Splintercell, but Ubisoft releasing the same version as last-gen consoles implies to me that Ubisoft doesn't know how to get a 8th generation game onto the Wii U graphically.

This no doubt means Destiny is possible as well, but I'm sure we'll see when these games release how well they will actually do on the market. It seems like alot of peole have already boughten a Wii U and are sticking with it in comparison to how many Xbox One and PS4 systens will probably sell on launch day, so it makes sense to port the multiplatform games to a system with a larger install base to maximize profits almost immediately.

Even if I end up getting an Xbox One, I still won't get multiplat games for it if they are on Wii U as well, because I'm still able to play online for free with the GamePad or Wii remote.
If I buy a 4K TV, I might buy more Xbox One games, but that's pretty far out.

I think they're just working on a tight schedule to get these things working just right before they make any announcements.
Same thing with the OS update this September/October. We can't jump to conclusions until we see what the Wii U actually plans to do in the next couple years or so.

It's plain simple: There is no reason to buy Wii U version of ANY game if it's not better and if it's inferior than PS3/XBOX 360 game.

Wii U may fail because of this problem.

put Nintendo on Steam and all our problems will be solved. every objection to that statement can be countered, f you think about, cause on steam, there is no conspiracy, and innovated controllers can just be peripherals. though the one problem is that it would stop rare games to circle around, but hey, im not a collecter, so im ok.

er...ok

How do you figure the Wii u versions will be inferior ? splinter cell black list looks like the definitive version of that game, and has all the features and dlc of the other versions.

same with batman arkham origins

assassin's creed 3 was on par with the other console versions, dlc and all, plus it also had a few features of it's own, and for a launch title that is nothing to sniff at.

If black ops 2 on wii u had the dlc that to would also be the best version of the game.

In fact every game I've played on Wii U has been the best version (I have a PS3 also)

So to anybody that says Wii U versions are inferior, please stop talking out of your A$$

Granted there aren't a ton of Nintendo games I'd want to buy, but the few I want I'd love to have without all the annoying hardware and accessories.

I think he's mainly saying that it won't be worth buying a 3rd party game on Wii U that isn't up to par with the other versions on Xbox One or PS4.
I kind of agree, but this isn't Nintendo's fault. Gameplay wise, Blacklist plays the best on Wii U, but Nintendo announcing that COD Ghosts will indeed be the 8th gen version kind of makes you wonder whether Ubisoft's ganes will meet Activision's efforts to get the 8th gen version running.

This also goes hand in hand with some of the games being available on Xbox 360 and PS3. In otherwords, they might give the Wii U the Xbox 360/PS3 version, even though it can technically/graphically run the Xbox One/PS4 version.
It's just lazy porting, but that's the 3rd party deal.

It's not good for ActiVision's image as they enter PS4 and Xbox One to have the Wii U version announced at the same time as the other next-gen consoles, ESPECIALLY when they unveil the game at the Xbox One unveiling. We might pretty much — actually we will — have the same situation with Destiny. Until both consoles are actually out, these politics and diplomacy will continue. Mark my words.

Is that a guarantee that Destiny will end up on the Wii U?

If the game comes with Wiimote controls I think I'd deserve a grand cru.

Let's put it this way:

I believe that Assassins Creed IV Black Flag (Wii U) is gonna look the same as PS3 version. Is that alright?
Is it acceptable for you guys to play 7th gen on 8th gen console?

@Square-Head Have you played NBA 2k13 on Wii U? Darksiders 2? FIFA 13? They were so BAD on Wii U that's horrible.
For example NBA 2k13 (Reduced physics, 30 fps instead 60 fps + full physics on ps3 xbox360) and more....

We can all hope that Wii U is more powerful than it looks like. I will not buy games that are graphically inferior or the same as PS3/XBOX 360. In that case
I would by PS3/360 version. I can't believe that Nintendo has launched 7th gen console. Feel free to defend this stance with 2nd screen which is pretty much useless in many games.

That's usually the point where you decide whether you should buy the games or not.
I have a PS3, but I still bought Tekken Tag 2 and COD BO II on Wii U. There were still games that were relatively new coming to all the systems, like Sonic Racing and the 2 I just mentioned.
Plus, we're starting to see more insight on what kind of games Wii U can handle. The Wii U version of COD Ghosts was just announced, which derives from the PS4/Xbox One version.

COD Ghosts is proof that Wii U can run 8th generation games.

It may not be on everyone's wishlist, but it's a start.

it's a conspiracy of the devil, i tell you! soon everyone will be siding against nintendo because of the wiiU having poor sales. soon game devs will rally together and protest at all the Nintendo headquarters of the world, and nintendo will be forced to quit the hardware industry all together and be forced to make 3rd party games for the super super uber high futuristic real next-gen consoles that are X1 and PS4. all because it took so long to announce COD for WiiU

I haven't played nba or fifa so I cannot comment on those titles

But darksiders 2 was much better on the wii u, especially the ps3 version. And yes it is because of the second screen.

On the wii u you can equip ALL of deaths powers, on the other console versions you can only equip 4 to the face buttons, so thats a MAJOR game changer right there.

plus you have the map in your hands, so you don't have to keep pausing and breaking the experience, not to mention off screen play.

and not at any one point did I experience any technical issues that I did not on the ps3 version
