@19Robb92: No, actually, you also get 10% off every purchase you make off the Wii U eShop, both retail and digital. But apart from that, I have no idea what else for now, everything else is just a hunch. :P But surely Nintendo wouldn't just leave it there.

Apart from that, I believe all Nintendo said that a two- year Nintendo Network Premium came free with the Deluxe/Premium bundle, after which time it'd have to be renewed. I don't think they said anything else after that, but it's most likely that for the Basic bundle owners, you'd have to purchase it yourself from the get-go. But if that's not the case, then WTF Nintendo. O_o

Let us not judge a man by the colour of his skin, but by the character he chooses to battle with in Brawl.

From my understanding you do not get 10% off on anything. What you do get, is 10% of the games cost converted to points that you can then buy stuff for. No discounts.

"As explained by Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata this afternoon, Nintendo Network Premium is basically a reward scheme. Members who buy Wii U games will receive ten per cent of the price back in the form of Nintendo points, which can subsequently be put towards future online purchases."

And nah, they've actually said you won't be able to purchase the service separately. It's WiiU Premium/Deluxe exclusive (for now). It'll last till sometime 2014 and then disappear.

Robb is right. And unless they learnt nothing from the Ambassador games, they'll let people buy it separately.

It will last until December 31st 2014 so it's actually 2years!
I don't understand what the confusion is. Nintendo Network = Nintendo online capabilities.
Miiverse = A facility that can act as a message board and/or social networking site within the computer games which is, in essence, a complete enhancement of anything that's been done previously.

That's nice. I should be able to make pretty good use of the point system if so :)

Well, they have said that you'll be able to download retail games on the WiiU. I think that's what they mean, not 100% sure though.

Yeah I believe it's retail downloads only so it can be added to your eShop account. If you could use the discount on physical buys there would be no way for Nintendo to know if the purchase was legit (second hand market or people abusing the service by taking Club Nintendo registration cards from games and claiming they purchased it) Makes perfect sense to me ;)

The confusion is no other companies do this on their game systems, Steam doesn't neither. Why not just call the whole network the same thing? It's gonna confuse others too, I just know it. Because they are used to the Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, and Steam type things.

I actually think that this is intentional. They want to do their own thing, not use the same concepts and layouts as other companies. For better or worse.

I hope you were kidding. I don't care if you don't actually want a Wii U anymore, but if you were dead serious and you wanted one, good luck trying to get one...at all.

Nintendo Network is the online system. This has been proven because Kid Icarus Uprising uses it to do the multiplayer online modes. Miiverse is a social network strictly for Nintendo. I would imagine that it is like the Streetpass Mii Plaza on the 3DS, only a bit more accessible and fun.

Its all in the trailer but I don't think MiiVerse is anything like the Wii U version of Streetpass Mii Plaza. If it was why would MiiVerse eventually appear on the 3DS and be accessible from any web browser? If it's like anything it's more like a Nintendo Twitter/Facebook but instead of posting and commenting videos and photos you comment on games. Presumably the idea would be that you look at your friends list and you can see their "MiiVerse" profiles or simply look at a MiiVerse news feed.

This image pretty much explains what MiiVerse probably is:
Untitled
it's a feed for comments on a particular game which is directly comparable to this:
Untitled

Nintendo Network is pretty much just their new way of saying "it goes online". MiiVerse is one of the "new" online features Nintendo has which will bring them much closer to where everyone else is.

I fully agree. That's how I've interpreted it as well.

If anything, I think it's more of an evolution of the Wii's Connect 24 feature with the always online build. Essentially it's a social network built in to the operating system.

I wouldn't call it an evolution of Wii Connect 24 if anything it's more like the Wii Message Board (but not really). Wii Connect 24 is pretty much the same as what they now call Spot Pas, you need to be always online for this to work but that's not what this is. MiiVerse requires SpotPass and both are a part of Nintendo Network if that makes sense.

Nintendo Network is basically a revisioned Nintendo Wi-Fi.

Miiverse is basically a better Playstation Home.

Did Nintendo get rid of friend codes? Some people say they did but then I see articles like this one too and it confuses me... not to mention I don't feel like thinking too hard right now, I have am migraine. Hurts. :(

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/117879-Wii-Us-Frien...

Can someone tell me what this means? To me they don't sound real specific as to what they mean or what extent friend codes will be used if at all.

Well, one overarching name wouldn't hurt. I mean Xbox Live/Steam does a lot of other things too but they call the whole service by one name. Pretty much if you wanna do anything on Xbox, even watch Netflix or other services you have a subscription to already, then you need to buy gold account. Blah, but it's fine as long as it's not too confusing, lol.
