I have a question about the Co-op feature and since I do not own the Wii U I cannot see for myself but can two people play as link or Zelda at the same time?

Let me rephrase it: can two people play as the same character simoutaneously

Yoshi

No, each player must choose a different character. Even in missions that force you to play as a certain character, P1 must play as that one, but P2 can play as any other character as long as they're not the same.

Ok

Yoshi

Also, when you get the game, the first time you play the first mission, it's only single player. Co-op unlocks when you get to the second mission.
