Tropical Freeze is in a weird place where I simultaneously believe it will be one of the best games of the entire year and yet it still feels like a disappointment.

Because after a year of Mario, Luigi, Rayman, Ducktales, Clouberry Kingdom, Shovel Knight and Sonic, were going to be platformered out! I think DK needs to be alternate years with Mario.
Which is why 101 is such a refreshing change....

If the price is right, I think Platinum games would be a fine acquisition for Nintendo. I'd put them to work on Star Fox. I believe Kamiya said he'd like to do it and Star Fox definitely could use a reimagining.
If they bring in Platinum games, you have to admit NIntendo has assembled some very capable studios. Retro, Platinum, Monolith, plus all the internal teams.

Same here. Its kind of why I'm hoping Yarn Yshi is being retooled. To be frank its only 2D platformers that have become oversaturated. I would have been fine with Donkey Kong if it was a 3D platformer as a throw back to the N64 era of games. I find it a bit sad that a developer of Retro's technical talents iis working ona game that uses the Wii U hardware to make fur.

I agree that there are too many platformers for the rest of the year. One too many. The Mario one to be exact. Buy the ones that aren't that. And maybe not the Yoshi's Island one either unless the notArtoon dev can actually prove itself.
Yoshi Yarn is fine for next year though unless it comes out early next year. I don't even have too much of a problem with the platformers because more of them is rarely a bad thing and also because I've played like 1 platformer in the past year, maybe. Also if that forces you guys to buy Watch_Dogs, I don't consider that a bad thing.
Yarn Yoshi is fine because Yoshi hardly gets time under the spot light anyway, but the art style is completely different. Donkey is just a tad predictable as a 2D platformer. I suspect Retro does have something else going on but Donkey is the priority because that sells more.
Platformer's are great but Nintendo does have too many of them right now. They need to mix it up. I think that is one of the biggest reasons so many people were disappointed with Retro making DKCTF instead of a Star Fox or Metroid game.
