Yes. In fact, I'm using the Wii U's HDMI for my media player. The cords are universal, so you should have no problem.
EDIT: I meant yes. Yes, you can use the Wii U's HDMI to connect your laptop to the TV.

I use my Wii U's HDMI to connect my 360 to my TV...and I have used it to connect my laptop to my TV in the past (as it's the only HDMI cord I own).

My Wii U's got the Wii Component cables in it, so it's fine.

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
