Hey all,

Just a question here. Long story short, My Wiiu pad is gone, it was stolen from a car open window but, we didn't notice it till many hours later so we didn't file a report for it. So I have a black Wiiu that works fine but, no controller besides my old Wii controllers. I ordered a Pro controller.

Will this work for all games (besides motion primary games) or am I really screwed from playing Mario U or 3D land with the Pro controller ?

I called Nintendo and they want $140 for a replacement. OUCH ! I could see $50-75 to replace, it ok but, $140 is just too much.

I just want to play some games on it but, stuff like mario games that should be ok with just the controler (thinking of game play).

Thoughts ?

and thanks for your help !

On the back of your games box or if they are digital in the e-manual it should show supported controllers

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

oh ? Do most games support that controller now ? For example, will Super Mario U support it ? Or am I SOL on this system because the lack of that touch display ?

And this is why making your default controller something so expensive that can't be sold on its own was a bad idea

Not that I disagee with you so, am I SOL ? I can't see spending so much just so I can play a game, the touch screen was nice but, I never really used it unless I NEEDED to (the screen). I would of prefered to use a controller like the pro or a 360 controller to play a game.

Is there a list someplace where I can find out what games will work with that controller or does every one have some sort of compatablity with it ?

You need the GamePad for anything that has to do with the system.

System settings, Miiverse, the eShop, and TVii are the only things you need the GamePad for that I can think of without testing.

Any Wii U game you have will work with either a Wii remote or pro controller, besides ones that require the screen(Lego City, I think ZombiU requires it).

Besides a few thigs, you can do everything with the pro controller. You'll eventually have to get another one, though, but for now you should be able to do most of everything with just the pro controller or Wii remote.

Thanks that really cleared it up ! Just wondering if I could do anything but, it looks like I can do a lot of stuff and play a lot of games on it (with some acceptions). Awesome, thanks for your help !

If Nintendo finally releases them for sale (if they start supporting 2, and in the call to them they were saying soon) and they show up for under $99, I might grab one... Even on ebay people are selling them for $175+ and for another $50 or so I could get a whole basic system.

it sucks but, I just want to be able to play games and it looks like I can, so am happy...

May I ask you what the Wii U Gamepad was doing in the car in the first place?
I'm just wondering because your Wii U console is still there and didn't get stolen as well?

A lot of games support the Pro Controller, but if I remember correctly there was a game that I was playing where you had to set it with your Gamepad first, before you can play it. I think it was Splinter Cell: Black List or/and New Super Mario Bros U. You may not be able to play some games that offers the Pro Controller if they require the Gamepad first. :3

So... a $140 item was stolen and you decided not to report it because... a few hours had passed? The statute of limitations is 5 years. You could still file a report now. So why not do that?

It was in my friend's car. We were traveling and stopped at a store. I guess in the top of the bag, was the controller that was visable (I guess), we walked into the store and I didn't know he left the back window open. He does not have full coverage and knowing the police in the area, there is a 99.9999999% I would not get it back or after a deductable, IF he had full coverage, I wont get anything anway. Why they didn't take the whole bag ? No idea. Moron theft as I see it but, anyway about it, I'm the one out of a controller OR $140... Not going to bother as it was 2 states over and it would be a MAJOR hassle that could end up costing me more in the long run.

I hope I can play back some games, if not, I might just sell it. Anway about it, $140 for a controller, is crazy, I could buy a whole 360 or PS3 for $150 these days. After paying $300+ for the system, It's a nice system but, not worth $450 to me....

BTW. LOL on the video... yea it sucks but, it is what it is...

If you were watching this thread, I ended up getting a used controller for $62 on fleabay. So what if it's used as long as it works fine and allows me to play games, I'm good.

Now to go order Super Mario 3D land for the Wii U....been waiting a while for this one..
