Hopefully, I can get a Wii U for my 19th birthday this summer. I have one question to prepare myself:
How accessible is it to buy DLC?
There's one thing I do not particularly like about the XBox 360. That is the fact that you have to pay around £40.00 for XBox Live Gold and £10 or £20 for a pre paid card in order to buy DLC. I do not want to do this with the Wii U.
I would like to be able to have some replay value, especially for Hyrule Warriors, the game that makes me want a Wii U.
You can either buy a eshop top up card (I recommend using a site like cdkeys where it's cheaper) or you can just connect permanently/one time your debit/credit card to then pay for things as you buy them and there's no membership/account fees.
I'm not sure what you mean by "easy." Accessible? No extra costs/fees?
The eShop is pretty easy to navigate with an intuitive icon-based touch interface on the Gamepad. You can search for games with a pop-up virtual keyboard and use the either the buttons or stylus to select anything. Or your finger. Whatever.
There's no membership fee or other paywalls like Live Gold. A Nintendo Network account is completely free.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

I meant how accessible. I always like ease of access. One good thing about Nintendo is accessibility. And would I need a Nintendo Network account?

Yes, but it's free to setup, no subscription cost.
Honestly, unless you plan on maining the Smash DLC characters, don't buy them. They are not worth the asking price. I got Mewtwo for feee with the CN thing and proceeded to not care about him after 2 hours. This is pribably just me, but I'm simply not that hyped about Smash DLC.
Not much to say here. I like Nintendo. That's about it.

I don't like the idea of paying like $5 to add one character to a roster of over 50. Especially one I don't main like you said. They should be unlocked if you buy the amiibo.
Amiibo is not at all accessible; you have to buy them. At the store. The physical store that you drive to. I mean really, it's like beating rocks together to invent fire. I'd rather kill myself.

I click on a button and people send them to my house. It's pretty neat.

I wouldn't be against that idea, but right now I am unsure if I will buy the DLC for just my Wii U or for both. I will buy them for Wii U as that will have more people than just myself playing it and when friends come over they will be able to choose whoever they want. My 3DS however I am unsure. I would hate to buy a character and never use them, but I would also hate to buy a character for Wii U only and start maining them and have to buy them again. As long as they offer the discount to buy both I will probably continue to do that.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I have to agree with this. Compared to the excellent price vs. value you'll get from the MK8 DLCs or the Hyrule Warriors Seasons Pass, the values of the Smash DLCs are nothing unless you plan to main that character.

And you wait for them!?! Like a peasant? How absolutely ghastly!

If anything it is the opposite having to go get something vs having it brought to you.

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.
You don't need XBL Gold to buy DLC or anything from the store.
In that case:
How can I add funds to an offline XBox 360?
I am asking because I have recently checked the entire dashboard and there is no "Add funds to offline account" option that I can see or am aware of.
When you say offline to me that means your not connected to the internet. So now I am confused. Are you conceded to the internet, cause if you were you would have a silver account rather then a gold account and even with a silver account you can still add funds and buy stuff from the store.
Don't get that either. I only have a silver account (free) and i can purchase any offline dlc I want. I say any offline because as you know, buying online dlc would be a wasted exercise. I can also add funds as and when.
If you aren't connected to the net, then you'll have as much luck buying dlc via the console as you would using a SNES. You can also d/l content via xbox.com onto your account and access it via your pc/flash drive.
