Dear Wii U owners,

I want to buy a U in the future, and i just wonder if i can stretch Virtual Console games on the U gamepad, just like on a widescreen tv with the Wii.
Is it possible? I don't like black bars on my screen.

Don't think so, would've heard about it by now...prefer it to be in its original size than stretched anyways.

Keep it PG-13-ish.

No there's no way to change it
Generally people like playing games in the original aspect ratio so squares and circles don't look like rectangles and ovals..but I guess I could understand your situation

Your best bet would just be play on your TV if it really bothers you that much

Some games look fine stretched, there are a lot of options Nintendo should have added to their emulators. I'd like the ability to turn on or off the graphic filters.

Thanks folks, for all your answers.
I like my handheld screen filled up, and as big as possible. That's why.
I hope Nintendo will bring the widescreen option to the gamepad.

You might be able to set the Wii U output to 4:3, but they you'd have to switch it back every time.

I'm not completely sure but I think the gamepad resolution stays the same regardless of what TV resolution is picked
So I don't think that would change anything

Oh derp, he was asking about the gamepad. Nevermind, then.

He IS! I'm just saying that changing the resolution/aspect ratio on your TV has no effect on the gamepad resolution. The gamepad is always set to 16:9 480p, whether your tv is set to 480i, 1080p, or anything in-between.
