Couldn't be more thrilled. I'm a Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Star Fox and F-Zero kind of guy, but I also enjoy games like Call of Duty once in a while. There's nothing wrong with FPS, if in moderation (that applies to ALL genres of course). Saying CoD is for 13 year olds and college frat boys is just as biased as saying Nintendo is for kids and casuals. It may have some truth to the statement, but certainly there are many core Nintendo fans, and many who also happen to enjoy a good FPS from time to time. I bought CoD BO2 for Wii U, and the campaign was a blast! Not into the multiplayer, where I don't last more than 5 seconds to these uber-professional CoD fanatics who can shoot a peanut from a towertop. But the campaign was very enjoyable, and despite the fact I have pre ordered a PS4, I will be buying this game for the Wii U, as well as all other multiplats coming to both systems. I value gamepad integration over graphics, Pro Controller over the Dualshock, and free online over paid subscription. The PS4 will primarily be for games which do not make the jump to Wii U.

I might get. I've never play a Call of Duty game before.
Note: The message below contains many opinions.
Honestly, you're really not missing anything. Unless they've completely revitalized and revolutionized the game since MW2, it's pretty much as generic and average of a FPS you can get. (I actually thought MW2 was a nightmare, though) I stopped playing after MW2, but I really am not getting the impression anything changes in the yearly releases. The single-player modes are short, typical, and have terrible stories. Multi-player usually just boils down to camp, camp, grenade gameplay, and many players are not fun to play with at all. (A large generalization, though, to be sure)
Unless they really pull out all the stops with this year's release, I would just save your $60 for another game. But that's just my recommendation.
Good to hear for Wii U owners interested in CoD Ghosts (I plan to get a Wii U for X). I'd never played CoD before MW3, so despite it being just like MW2, I got it anyways. I skipped BO2 despite it being more original, but Ghosts seems to be more promising. New graphic effects like sub-d for perfect circles (graphics aren't everything, but it certainly makes it feel more realistic) & other improvements are intriguing, but its the emphasis on the campaign's story that caught my attention. If I had a Wii U, assuming the port's good, I'd probably get it since the gamepad would make sniping in splitscreen multiplayer a viable strategy (if you can see a sniper's point of view, you can easily track him down to kill him in his / her hiding spot as well as avoid getting killed).
I'm actually quite excited for this game. The campaigns are usually decent, but multiplayer is always a blast! Don't know why people always just like to brush off fps games as a "brofest" thing.

Call of Duty is ok, I guess. The only shooting games I enjoyed online alot are Halo Reach and Gears of War 3 online.
I absolutely hate Halo campaign modes. Gears of War had a crappy campaign after the first game, and I would have to say COD usually has the better campaigns.
COD still has the better campaign, but not multiplayer modes as the other 2 I mentioned, IMO.
Overall, any online multiplayer game can be crappy. I'm not sure how playing online is for you guys, but I tend to get screwed over.
Respawn kills, lag(not by me), and bad controls in some cases.
It would be cool if we get the Xbox One/PS4 port though.
It would prove that the only thing Wii U is gonna miss, is 4K.
I knew it would. We got a tonne of Call of Dutys on Wii and DS. The quality of the port, compared to the PS4 and Xbox1 versions, is what matters. Good news though!
I might get. I've never play a Call of Duty game before.
If you want a Michael Bay inspired "YEAH AMERICA" type of FPS, you can do much worse at least.
Funny how they don't even called it a sequel but a version, as if even they know how similar all the "sequels" are. But in @MrWalkieTalkie's case it doesn't matter since this would be the first CoD he'd play, so he wouldn't notice anything.

Wow... I can't believe the "meh" about this. It's gonna be a solid FPS, at the very least. I'll probably end up getting it.
Well my next FPS will be Killzone and ignoring that.
Ghosts isn't changing the formula while Battlefield 4 is doing this
I think this is the year we see the decline of call of duty if Activision doesn't change the series up (hard to do on one year developer cycles, but dice has) not that they car since Destiny will probably become this gens new hotness.

Uh not to hate on your complain about sequels parade, but you do know that when they say first next gen version they're speaking in terms of SKU's of the game its self. They've owned up to the fact this is a a sequel however with the PS4/One release dates under wraps this so far is the only next gen (lol) version of the game with a release date hence it will probably be the first.

Most people that complain about CoD games haven't actually played many of them. In fact, I would wager most of you (and others elsewhere) that claim to dislike CoD played perhaps CoD 4 (Modern Warfare 1), and MAYBE one other entry in the series. And that's it. And you feel as if you've seen enough to label it, cut it down, and publicly despise it.
That would be like me playing, I don't know, Super Mario World and New Super Mario Brothers and claiming that the Mario franchise is horrible and that everything's the same. I don't care about Galaxy or Mario 64 - don't need to play them. They share the Mario name so they must be exactly the same; they must be terrible, as well. Oh, and every single Mario game is only for kids. Only kids 12 and under play them.
That's EXACTLY what you're doing with CoD. Substitute "bros" for "kids" and voila! Same exact thing. The CoD games are NOT all the same. Each single player campaign introduces new concepts and elements of gameplay, new gadgets to use, and more (not even counting the story). Yes, you are always going to be aiming down sights, just as Mario is always going to be platforming. It's just the type of game it is. The multiplayer in CoD changes each time, as well. Just because YOU don't view whole slews of new features, weapons, kill streaks, class combos, game modes, and methods of keeping score and being competitive as new, doesn't mean that they aren't.
If you've written off CoD because you just don't dig FPS games, then more power to you. That's great. But if you're just jumping on the bandwagon because it's cool to hate on the franchise, then you're doing yourself a disservice. You're missing out on some pretty awesome experiences that have more polish and "wow" moments than most other games released every year. I, for one, think it's great the game will be coming to the system. I look forward to seeing you online!
